I happened to notice that the AKG 701 Quincy Jones model is on sale at Crutchefield for $299; I have never seen the price this low for this model, and Crutchfield is certainly very reputable.  They also have a 'Scratch & Dent' version for $254.  Free shipping as well.
 
If I hadn't already had the K702, I would be purchasing one of these.  Just thought someone might be interested.

Holy cow, I had no idea!!  Not long ago they were selling for well over $100 more than the K models.  Thanks for the correction.

I've been tempted to bite the bullet and pull the trigger and a few other cliches about buying something with the 250 price point and about a 180 price for the K272HDs. Can't decide which ones and can't decide if I should wait to try and hear them first. Or even go a totally different route and get a different headphone. Cheaper prices make life difficult.

Exactly.  Only cosmetic differences exist between the K271MKII and the K272HD.

I think $250 is a decent price for any of the K/Q-70x series headphones. The Senn HD600 is also a great headphone for around that price.
