What are you using for an amp?  How does the K812 sound plugged straight into the source?

I am using AK240 as source, sometimes with Hugo using optical.  I think it sounds great right out of AK240 which is the main reason i bought it.  My desktop dac/amp is Resonessence Labs Invicta, and i don't really see great difference as K812 is easy to drive.

I just joined the club today. I listened to a few times before in Taiwan and last time I was in Japan. I was about to purchase from bic camera or e earphone, until I went to fujiya avic. They had the best deal by far and I purchased it instantly.

Got my AKG K812 pro 2 days ago. I am using it without amp right from my AK100Mk2. Although I probably cannot get the full potential out of it without amp I am pretty impressed. First impression is that the K812 wins agains all other headphones I have auditioned so far. Not in every aspect and not with every sort of music but classics and the overall impression are just wonderful. The HD800 has a bigger soundstage, maybe it's the angle of the drivers, but the HD800 is not made for a portable device and simply doesn't look cool. Soundwise, the HD800 may be superior in some single aspects. But, you can't walk around with an HD800, can you?. I admit that the look of the headphone is important to me, too. The K812 seems to be, at pressent, the best headphone for portable use. I am looking forward for a comparison of the K812 with the new Hifiman HE560

I hope you guys realise that part of the cable is still inside the can and non-replacable so upgrading the cable is just mere placebo (in this case)?

Or so it seems.

cheaper than thomann btw: http://www.muziker.de/studio-pa/kopfhorer/studio-kopfhorer/p/213006-akg-K812

Everything is replaceable!..............Run high purity silver and cotton or high purity silver-gold and cotton all the way to the K812's drivers  and mate the 812 up with a Chord Hugo and then make intelligent observations about the AKG 812. Sadly, many(to many) of the 812 owners will never hear the 812"s true potential because of harsh, colored, inferior equipment. Can I get an amen out of any fellow Hugo owners out there?

I have k812 withdrawals.with

I've been listening to my hd800 with the chord hugo and really want to know how the k812 sounds like with the pair. The Hugo made both the hd800 and k545 musical. I wonder how musical it will be for the k812 when it's already musical to begin with
