AKG K812 Pro

What do you guys think about the pads? I really like the plush velour ear pads of the Shure SRH 1840 and I see a different material is used on the AKG K812.

pads may not be interchangeable with K7xx series.  They look different.

It's too early for me to give real impressions.  I unboxed them last night.  I can tell you that the listening experience is very different from K7xx series in a, to me more Hi-Fi way.  K812 is a serious Hi-Fi headphone.

Has anyone with history with the K1000 and TH900 used the K812 as yet?
Love to hear your take on the comparisons.

Thanks

Okay cool, take your time make some notes...meanwhile can you take a photo with the pads off? Just to see if they have the same looking.

Thanks!

I'm not handy enough to do that and put it back.  Perhaps Tyll can chime in on this one.

Which price have you paid for them?

Thanks

Just was on Addicted to Audio's website for Australian headphone gear. They have the Akg K812 to order already, apparently they will have stock in the very near future (couple of days). $2099 marked down from $2599. This make the non marked down price (will this be a regular price soon for us?) the equivalent to US $2300 or 1700 Euro's for our price, yet the US gets it for $1500. The HD800 is at $1590, making the AKG far far steeper in price here.

I don't know, maybe he already got his 812s. I meant Nomax as AKG insider now he can ask for a pair for evaluation in a UE loan program. :happy_face1:
