AKG K812 Pro

My first modern era headphone was the K702, which I parterned with the Schitt Asgard. From there I progressed to the HD800, which I was using with the Schitt Vahalla and later with the Sennheiser HDVD 800. As much as I enjoyed this, when the AKG K712 arrived I bought it and the HD800 saw sporadic use. I later sold the HDVD800, and am currently selling my HD800 on eBay. When the K812 came out, I waited several months to check out the HeadFi reviews, then promptly picked one up. This headphone is far and away superior in every way to any previous K series design. If you're really interested, you can order these from Amazon and have a 30 day return per their policy.
I eventually sold my Schitt products and teamed the K812 with the Phonitor 2 and I have finally found my endgame system, (at least for now).
(I know, 2 weeks ago) even K1000?

God willing, I can switch in the Fitz-improved Bada PH-12 hybrid amp--just back from the shop with new Elna electrolytic capacitors--tonight and fire up the K812.
The AKGs do like their tubes!

Patrick that Bada amp  You have a long time now. Should be sweet with the K812

Even with HTC M8, the K812 sounds wonderful. I do mixing and tracking alot, working in studio and mixer, i often check my mix on K812 plug directly into mixer headphone out. It is quite transparent. Im happy with the 812. So far its the best cans that AKG has made.

I switched to the Viva Egoista tonight with the K812 and it is opening up now and I have to tell you with acoustic music this thing is rocking. tidal streaming is totally spot on. Eric Bibb  blues albums are all well recorded but the sound is amazingly live.

Thats a wholeee lotta wasted potential there though... I also have the M8 and its headphone out is honestly pretty bad...

Even with my DX90, its sound is still so far behind my desktop setup. The K812 scales so well.

Maybe you could bring that $10,000 fine piece of Italian.... craftsmanship to the metro meet with your k812's so we can hear it Frank!

Anyone tried the K812's with a Bottlehead Mainline? I've got one on the way and I've got my eyes on some 812's with an attractive price.

Edit - The mainline mentioned above http://www.head-fi.org/t/733108/custom-bottlehead-mainline-build-pending-sale

Hey Mate!

I own the K812's too, and you'll find the Mainline a fantastic match. One of the really great things about spud/parafeed amp topography's is how well they do with high impedance and low.

Sweet, nice to know that they're a good pairing. What type of music do you think pairs well with this combination, so I know how to really wow my room mates :D

Just had my first minutes of V281 + K812 today... amazed at the amount of bass the K812 is capable of. And I do like the slight soft touch of the V281, matches very well with the K812.

Question, do you feel like not getting the most out of your V281 with your K812 due to its inability to use the XLR-out of the amp?
