I humbly stand corrected. I should have known that Fitz knew what he was talking about, after all we are twins.

You should also know by now that I never know what I'm talking about, I'm just really good at convincing people that I do.

Sounds like you need to tighten or replace your elastics.

I think they (elastics) are new

They don't droop they are heaver then most headphones and don't clamp very tightly. So if I tilt my head back on to my chair to relax they slide.

Have you tried the velour earpads and/or the K501 headband? I find that they help with fit/comfort/heat on my pair.

No. Where can I get info?

Well, if they droop like that either you are just not getting a good seal [the kiss of death with these headphones IMO] or your elastics are worn out or not small enough.

As for the AKG parts, shoot swt61 a PM as I think he has the info for US orders.

As all freaks are gathered here (hope not everybody has unsubscribed), two simple question about the K340:
  1. Is it even bass shyer than a DT880? (DT880 bass is the lowest limit that can be accepted for my Electronica)
  2. Would a Millet Hybrid (simple version) have enough power to drive it at least mediocrely?
As I live in the Ebay K340 wonderland, I've watched several of these being sold for ~60-100€. Salacious moments somewhat.

At least on my pair, I had to mod them so I could actually hear the treble over the bass.

OH.. so it happened.. i could'nt resist the K340 temptation even if my amp might not give it the optimal conditions for peforming its best... i must wait and see... The price was right.. These go rather cheap on german ebay i must say.. fortunate when its the closest ebay site and you know a bit german..

knowing that i might be able to sell them again for about what i bought em for if they just dont get off with the LD2++ gives me some comfort though...

now, i must hope the shipping wont be as long as it sometimes can be with parcels...

Is it just me or does this DarkVoice amp look a hell of a lot like a VanWaarde variation proposed by FA-Schmidt on that other forum?

And mine are the bass light version, but that's not to say they don't have bass. Mine have half the cotton removed, and with my system they have plenty of bass. I believe I just heard my first bass heavy K340's. They sounded quite different than mine. Fitz has my pair at the moment, maybe we could talk him into a review of the 2 versions.

Haven't seen it, but it's a Chinese made amp, so I wouldn't be surprized if it were a clone. It's a darn good one at any rate.

Eh, it'd have to be a product to clone it. The VanWaarde is an amp based on an off-hand proposal in a magazine. Originally used e88cc in the gain stage and 6as7g/6080 in the power stage.

About two years ago someone stopped by That Forum and asked if they could use a 6sn7 in the gain stage. schmidt ran some simulations and told him what to change in the circuit.

Yes, the Darkvoice 336 is an adaptation of Aren van Waarde's SET OTL amp. When somebody asked Jian Liu for the Darkvoice schematic (was it Rodney who asked? I forget), they got the schematic for the original E88CC design rather than the 6SN7 version.
