Yeah, removing the cotton and taping up the back helps a lot with the bass and imaging. Recabling and recreening should help the highs. My headphones do not sound closed. I had an amp designer over and when switching between the K340 and the HD650 [I had a pair on loan from Tyll at the time], he thought that the HD650 was the closed headphone and that the K340 were open.

X2 The K340 have the largest soundstage, I have ever heard with headphones. Never ever sound closed.

Have now tried to tape up the back and kill the screens...

The rescreening isnt complete yet.. right now its just a hole in the screen. The sound.. well its a bit better, but not as much different as i would have thought...

Taping up the back had a bigger effect on the sound though... the boomy bass got tamed, and rock-tracks are much more listeneable than before... would still say that there is pretty much bass, but it seems tighter...

The downside of taping the back was that it seems like the volume inside the can have been lowered a bit, so it needs more volume to go as loud as before...

I think i like the sound of the taped up backs, though it seems like a bit of the soundstage is gone...
