get K3003 and do a comparison with JHA angie

i think that buying angie would mean selling my K3003 , and therefore the blow of buying angie would be , as you say

I need to get my AKG K3003 re-cabled.  The rubber on the left channel cable has split.  I can utilize electric tape for a temporary fix but will need to get it repaired.  Anyone have any good recommendations for this?  I emailed AKG USA Service but have not received a response.

If you need a quick and effective fix, I HIGHLY recommend "Sugru" - I used it to fix my GR10 cable which was exposing copper at the y-junction, and it worked wonders.

it's like a modelling clay which is also quite adhesive and sets within a few hrs into a rubberised, flexible, yet tough compound, waterproof and very hard wearing. Wonder-stuff

Perfect - Just ordered the starter kit!

I am sure that will be 10x cheaper than actually re-cabling...

Thanks Salla

no worries, glad to be of help. I was in a panic when my beloved GR10's started failing. Sugru was my saviour. I put mine on around  4months ago, and it's as new. I didn't really spend a lot of time applying it so I could have done a better job I'm sure with a little more care. But it's effective!

No. On the 3003i, the fourth pole is for the Apple Remote/Mic. The audio is standard single-ended on the other 3 poles.

Hopefully that Sugru fix works out for you.
My experience dealing with HK / AKG customer service was a joke.
Contacted AKG USA via their website to get replacement reference filters for my K3003s.
They basically told me to take a hike, and suggested I get replacements from their retail sellers on Amazon!

Just dropped by to say I heard the K3003 with the High Boost filter and Comply Tx 500 medium tips, and it was the closest I've gotten to an IEM sounding like the tonal balance of the HD800 that I enjoy. I will now be keeping an eye out for one on sale in good condition with all the filters. Hope AKG makes an update with replaceable wires in the future while keeping the sound quality and tonal balance.

Nice! My fave config is the T500 (sans waxguard filters) and the white AKG filters. Love them to bits. There are many times that the AKG's just disappear sonically leaving a full, rich, detailed soundstage. Surreal.

Never heard the HD800's, would love to one day!
