Hey Headfi’ers,

I am trying to decide between the following headphones. Any advice would be appreciated!

AKG 601
Sennheiser 595

My taste in music;

Classical-

Cello and piano

-John Williams- Schindler’s list
-Beethoven Moonlight Sonata
-Bach- Cello suite no.1 (and other cello pieces)
-Chopin- Piano pieces
-John Williams
[size=12.0pt]-Carmina Burana

Acoustic- (Mainly male voices)

-Damien Rice- 9 crimes/delicate
-City to city- the road ahead
-Lifehouse- You and me
-David Grey- This years love
-Iver- Where would I go
-Yann Tierssen
-Michael Buble- Home
-Peter Gabriel- I grieve

I am also considering buying an amp; e11.

Thank you!

Well you chose a Rock heavy and a balance can, so they won't work well

A Fostex T50RP does circles around other cans when it comes to Acoustics, and metal for a odd reason.
Review here:

They are also good with classical.

But to get the real enjoyment, you need to mod them. But there are lots of threads here on that and it's very easy. Just look up in the T50RP threads and the Thunderpants thread for ideas.

They do need an amp.

Other then that, I'd like to know your price range.
and if the other sources (MP3, Cd player) you might have.

Sorry, forgot to mention the price range;

For the headphone itself I can spend around 259 dollars. For an amp around 100 to 150 dollars.

I'll use it with my PC and digital piano. The soundboard isn't that great on my pc.

From what I got from Head-fi is that the AKG is good for classical and acoustic and the Senn is more used as an all-rounder.

Get a DAC/amp that feeds from USB for you computer. The NuForce Icon is good

The cans, I would go either:

Ath-A900
or
Ath-Ad900

because they are both great at Classical and Acoustics

The A900 are closed and better for acoustics
and the AD900 are open and better for Classical

You can also sacrifice a little sound quality and get both the A700 and AD700 if you want variety

EDIT: Better yet, go T50RP + AD700 or AD500 for looks + NuForce icon
