I feel a bit sheepish admitting on head fi that for daily usage these are pretty good. No, not for airplanes or really noisy places. Not for critical listening. But playing music on the iphone, pretty reasonable trade off between sound perfection and wireless, convenient listening.
I really wish that these were great. Listening to Apple Music via an Apple Watch with the same clarity as you’d get wired is downright magical.
Honestly with the Solo3 I don’t feel like I’m compromising on sound at all for the wireless features. They are genuinely great headphones with perfect wireless connectivity that’s only getting better. Seriously, try the Solo3 and an Apple Watch and tell me you’re not blown away by the quality you’re getting.
They're just convenient. That's it.
I'll use them when I'm listening to podcasts but that's pretty much it.
For any task that has any background noise, like working at the office, washing dishes... I'll use another pair of headphones.
These have zero isolation. But they're the most pocketable of any headphone on the market.
I’d pay $299 for AirPods that rivaled high-end headphones, with a softer material around the part that contacts the ear. The convenience factor is incredible, if only music was more enjoyable on them — and to many consumers used to EarPods it is.

I sold my Solo3 because they were pushing my ears a lot causing pain after 30 minutes of usage. Also all full size headphones make me sweat especially during hot periods of the year. Also they are too bulky for me. Either buds or in ear for me. Apart from my wired in ears I use AirPods and recently the Powerbeats3 which even though they are bass heavy they present some admirable clarity in the high frequencies. Powerbeats3 are also very comfortable, light and easy to use with just a very short and manageable cable connecting the 2 ear pieces together. If you are in a moderate environmental noise location, AirPods are the best of all, presenting true approach and balanced audio to every music piece.

Going for round 2 with AirPods. Last time I dismissed them due to the sound quality not exceeding my expectations (for the price I honestly do expect more) and only had a few days with them which didn’t afford me the time to test them at the gym or for running. I had Kohl’s cash and decided to try AirPods again since I can’t really think of a better headphone for running, especially now that the Apple Watch can stream Apple Music. Still waiting on a first-party Podcasts app for the Watch, which would cement AirPods in my Apple ecosystem. Kudos to Kohl’s for carrying AirPods.
This time, I’ll consider them a utility rather than purely as headphones because at the end of the day that’s why so many people are paying $159. Truly wireless earbuds opens up a lot of doors. The list of unique potential usage scenarios is long, especially since AirPods are non-isolating. If you buy AirPods you have to go into them knowing exactly what you’re getting and what you’re not getting.

I am on round three and sticking with them. Even returning my newly bought wired B&O H6. They sound way better than AirPods, but I can't stand wires anymore. The AirPods sound good enough. Im not real finicky so its not that much a sacrifice. The convenience of putting them in my small jeans pocket and using them at a whim or regularly through the day with good enough sound quality is a win for me after trying to go back to wired headphones. Plus they'll have good resale value when the next iteration comes. They are reliable products and if theres an issue just go to a nearby Apple Store and they will work with you with their usual good customer service.

Personally I hate the feeling of regular in-ear headphones so the AirPod form factor is worthwhile to me. Hopefully I’ll find them adequate this time around.
That’s another plus of AirPods: they’re Apple products, so resale is strong. Right now used AirPods go for almost as much as new AirPods on eBay.

I actually like how they don’t make you feel isolated and totally sealed where you can hear your own heart beat, every step you take. I like how you can interact better with those around you too.
