I can understand. At the NY meet I listened to RS-2's and thought "These are quite nice" - certainly a can you can marry for a long time if you wish with a nice amp & source setup. Nothing to be ashamed of there, congrats!

You have seen that I am looking for a second pair of HF-1.

If your search is successful you should consider sending them to Larry at Headphile to have them deep-woodied and recabled. Mine sound *amazing*.

Superman, did you mention at any point in your review (did I miss it) whether you use the bowls or the flats on the HF-1's? I prefer the flats with mine to get the bass I need.

I'll agree, the HF-1 really is something special, and they really are terrific with jazz. Lately, I've been tuned into the jazz station and accumulating CDs. More and more often, I reach for the HF-1 to listen. But I don't think they're the end of my headphone journey. I'll be getting another Grado soon, but am torn between the GS-1000 and the RS-1. Price isn't a factor; I'm just trying to figure out which suits me better.

Good story - it's nice to see someone pick a phone that is right for THEM.

Congrats!
