Thanks for all the answers, iv increased my budget now and im thinking about getting some in the 400-500 price range. Any recommendations on what ones i should get around that price? what about the t70's?

Heya,

Avoid the T70. It's just not a good headphone in general, especially since you're after bass and the T70 is very shy on the bass for most people.

At your price range, the Denon D5000 or D600 comes to mind.

Very best,

I think il just get the DT770 pro, (250 version) or maybe ah-900x/ah-900 but not sure which ones yet. What kind of amp/DAC will i need to get the most out of the dt770pro 250's? the cheaper it is the better. I currently have a Xonar DG but i know that wont be enough.

The Xonar DG can drive the DT770 250-Ohm, but your basicly having the volume maxed out.
The single tube headphone amplifier $50-$95, can easily drive 250-Ohms
The O2 (Objective 2) headphone amplifier ($155) is a good amplifier that can drive headphones from 25-Ohms up to 600-Ohms
Replacing the Xonar DG with the Xonar DX or D1 (used $50) sound card, will have somewhat improved features over the Xonar DG
But the Xonar DX or D1 really have to be used with an add-on external headphone amplifier.
The ATH-A900X to me is a little overpriced, really good sound, but the support wings are not firm enough and you would need the O2 amplifier to properly drive them.
(It's not because of power/voltage, it's that the O2 has a very low impedance).
ATH-A900X is only 42-Ohm and the O2 has a very low impedance, which best for low Ohm (42-Ohm) headphones.

I would say Denon 2000 or 5000, dt770 (250ohm), or ATH-A900X. Personally I have the 5000s and love them. I dont feel they leak that much. Not sure of them compared to their little brother the 2000s. I have heard the dt770s and they are very nice as well. The ATH-A900X is nice but I have not personally heard them.

Cheers
