Hello Head-Fi, I come from the lands of Overclock.net searching for a replacement for my PC-350s which I love. Everybody there says that the AD700s are amazing for gaming and a quick Google search says that the AD900s are everything that the AD700s are good for but better, especially the bass. So my question is, is this true, is the AD900 all that better? On a side note, what would be a good crystal clear amp to go with the "winner" so to speak.
Oh, and if TK Fury see's this I would just like to say hi and do mod AD900s as well?

EDIT: Will be used for gaming.

The AD900 really do not have a whole lot of bass. What they offer is really lean, airy, clear sound.

If you're the type of gamer who wants the advantage of hearing every possible sound that could locate an enemy, AD900 MIGHT be worth the price over AD700. However, if you play games for fun and want headphones that can make game audio engaging and immersive, something fuller-sounding like the DT-990 would be better.

Most of the time I reach for the DT-990 when gaming. Just my opinion.

For gaming, just go with either the AD700s for more precision or the DT770/990 for a more immersive experience

I would go for the AD700,

I have the AD700 and tried my friends AD900 and it wasn't worth the price difference.

The AD700 will give a lot more bang for your buck.

It may not be worth the price difference here where it's about $90 for AD700 and $200+ for AD900 but someone stated that it's only a $60 difference in Japan. What improvements did you hear and how similar are the two?

The bass is not alot better on the AD900 over the AD700 so save your money and do your boom mic mod. Also while the AD900 is alot more detailed for music it is not as evenly balanced across the spectrum as the AD700 making it feel off for alot of music IMO.

Aww, as a 4 year AD900 user I am saddened to read that.

But for $80-90 with boom mic mod, AD700 should be more than enough and awesome for gaming

Howdy Ruffle I just couldn't get used to the AD900, I wanted to BADLY as they were my first high end fullsize can but I just couldn't. I think in the end it was the sparkle of them that got to me the most, that and the mids being to thin sounding. But they are a nice headphone, just not for me. But I have not quite found my slice of perfection yet either, so I am probably just to darn picky.
