I'm planning to get the AD700 and for ease would love to do microphone mod. The problem is after researching several mods around here and else where, the picture to do not fully show how to wire the microphone input properly. Also, i'm not entirely sure what parts I would need to make this work.
 
If anyone could provide any information I would be really grateful.

You just velcro it to the side of the AD700 and put some superglue on the ball bearing so it doesn't move as easily, so you can adjust by only one of its two joints-- the more rigid joint.
 
Admittedly it's not as clean, but it's easier.  It's what I did with mine:

I have looked at this before, but I would much rather have mic input to make the headphones aestically pleasing. Also I'm in the mood for a bit of modding.

Oh, I hadn't thought of superglue on the ball bearing. I'll have to try that on mine. (I use this mic mod on my HFI-780s.) Thanks!

It's more about the trouble of giving them a coat of paint. And keep in mind that some people might like the stock color patterns.

I personally enjoy the stock color palette.  It's just their ridiculously big size that makes them so hilarious to put on.
