100+ Head-Fier
Getting the feeling that Astell and Kern completely gave up on this DAP... Look how sparse the answers about software issues went so far.
@JasonNYCI do not have the date for the next firmware update yet. I asked for an update and will share when the team is back in the office next week.
It's still sold normally in Japan, it's also in stock tooI am wondering if this player is being made any more. It is not available on Amazon.com or Amazon.ca. There have been no posts from the rep. I hate when this happens. Seems a common situation with the Korean brands. I had an Opus 2 a few years back. They just disappeared. I'll play it till it quits and then replace it with another make I guess.
Now I see the problem. The Activo P1 sold through Amazon Canada arrives here through Amazon US. Canada has no tariffs on Korea but the US does. Astell and Kern should sell the P1 through the dealer network already established in Canada, but they should already know that. It's still sold normally in Japan, it's also in stock too

In Germany too

Is it relates to Trump maybe? Not sure but you can buy it everywhere but in the US^^
The Astell & Kern representative said he downloaded 10 albums and had no problems listening offline. As someone who uses streaming services as my primary source of music, I would want to know how the DAP performs with 100 albums before I was even half satisfied that this issue had been tested. This player is compatible with 1.5TB microSD cards, 10 albums is no test of the storage it's supposed to be capable of.I just purchased an Activo P1 after a price cut on Amazon UK. Can anyone conclude if the problem of playing tracks downloaded from Tdal onto an SD card had been fixed? If not the player will be going straight back for a refund.
Works with Qobuz. I assume you don’t have Tidal or you would have tried it already. And if you do, please try, even if it works for us, it's not 100% sure it'll work for you.I just purchased an Activo P1 after a price cut on Amazon UK. If it works with 10, it works with 20. As long as there is enough space left, it should be ok.This player is compatible with 1.5TB microSD cards, 10 albums is no test of the storage it's supposed to be capable of.
Likewise it didnt work for me, even though I was told by the dealer that it 100% worked. I didnt like the sound very "analytical" it had no guts in terms of power output. My Fiio KA11 dongle which cost £28 sounds far better and has tons more power and its only single ended. I promptly sent it back for a refund.Tidal downloaded onto an external SD card does not work on my P1.
It worked when I downloaded 10 albums, but it does not work once my downloads reaches around 2,000 tracks.
If you mainly use Tidal like I do, I would not recommend buying the P1 until the SD card download issue is fixed (if ever).
It is sold in North America under "P1 by Astell&Kern" and it is available under that name on amazon.ca and on amazon.com (its imported from South Korea).I am wondering if this player is being made any more. I know that. I got mine from Amazon Canada. They are no longer available on either Amazon which makes me wonder if they are not importing them due to tariffs in the US. As I said, they arrive in Canada through Amazon US. Or maybe they are just phasing them out. If that's the case I would not be in the market for one now. Astell and Kern is an odd company. Avoided their products until now. Too clunky and heavy and always too expensive. Strange OI. I don't mind the P1, has a few odd things but most players do. I wanted light and simple for my purposes. I hope they still honour the warranty, just in case.It is sold in North America under "P1 by Astell&Kern" and it is available under that name on amazon.ca and on amazon.com (its imported from South Korea).
Actually I am looking at it right now on amazon.ca ($583.90 + $28 shipping, usually ships in 5 to 6 days). It says it is shipping from Astell&Kern official which is Republic of Korea. It is also listed on amazon.com right now at $430.00 + $20 shipping. It shows under shipping info (see below). So if it is shipping from amazon.com to Canada they must be importing it from Korea to amazon US warehouses and then shipping it to Canada. If you order it from amazon.co.jp it is $352.26 USD + $32.49 shipping and it ships to Canada, if I was to buy one I would buy through amazon.co.jp which shows they currently have 8 in stock. I would hope it then ships from Amazon Japan to Canada bypassing the US and avoiding the tariff. I would confirm this with Amazon Japan before ordering.I know that. I got mine from Amazon Canada. Amazon is a strange site. Type in the product-unavailable. Click on your link, there it is. Careful of taxes and duties, can add another $90-100 the price.Actually I am looking at it right now on amazon.ca ($583.90 + $28 shipping, usually ships in 5 to 6 days). Yeah it was confusing when the P1 was first released. If you went to amazon.ca or .com and typed in "Activo P1" it said "product unavailable". But then if you typed in "P1 by Astell&Kern" it would take you to the product page. At least now if you type in "Activo P1" it takes you to the "P1 by Astell&Kern" product page. If you order it from amazon.co.jp it is of course is under "Activo P1". Not sure why A&K chose to sell it as "P1 by Astell&Kern" only in North America.Amazon is a strange site.
