Anyone tried to use P1 as source/transport for Ibasso DC Elite or similarly demanding dongles? Impressions?

I have decided to keep the P1 and soon put the Hiby R3 II on the classifieds. The Hiby is faster to start up, however it has a slower UI navigation and less features. (no Android)
More importantly the sound of the P1 is a good touch more resolving, R3 II sounds a little too warm in comparison. Both have more than sufficient power for IEMs, but the Hiby has a little more juice I believe, at the cost of clean sound.

The best thing about the P1 is that removing my IEM from the 3.5mm socket while the DAP is still powered on, does not cause a concerning crackle in the drivers. This is a very annoying habit of the R3 II, which I am still unsure about if it could cause damage in the long run. Hopefully it has not already.

Otherwise, the Hiby R3 II is a great budget DAP. The P1 does play a much more sophisticated game, though. For the cost you get a good DAP with great specs where it counts (THD and SNR etc.) that competes way over it's price range. I am happy with this device.

Those are some nice IEM you paired with the P1. Those don't happen to be the Mach 80? :D

the westones might probably my next iem too, loved their w4 for its smoothness i think about 10yrs ago
My next IEM is the EE Triton. Eagerly waiting for it since weeks. I think it’s out for delivery today, not sure, will know in some hours. I might finally have the perfect combo for on the go - Activo P1 + EE Triton.

Has anyone compared the P1 to the DX180? I currently have the latter but the P1 is certainly interesting, it looks more pocketable with it being lighter and slimmer too. I also dig the white aesthetic.

Also, are the thickness measurements from the thicker plastic part at the top or the aluminium body? I’m curious if the actual aluminium body is actually thinner than the dx180, or if that is the same thickness as dx180 and the plastic upper part is therefore thicker.

Thanks

The spec is for the white part. The aluminum part is several mm thinner, maybe 14.5 or 15 mm.

This ^ The P1 is actually thinner than in the specifications for once.
The top plastic part doubles up as a nice grip to hold.

Honestly I have waited long for such a device. Tired of dongles and dangling cables or bad Bluetooth audio while on the go.

Hi Two questions for those of you who are using the P1:

1-Has anyone tried Roon with the P1? Does it operate as a Roon endpoint or does it only work with ARC?

2- has anyone installed Shanling’s Eddict Player app? It would be interesting to see if P1 will work with their new CD ripper (direct to DAP Flac conversion).

Thank you.

The P1 is a certified Roon Endpoint
