Yep, your right monitor may not be fitting well, but I'd also check to see if it's not simply insertion-related first, as it seems to be the case IMO, when looking at the picture. Sometimes it may take a bit of practice to fit silicone CIEM's due to their initial friction against ear walls. Please try twisting the monitor in when inserting and that should help locking it properly in place. The upper part of the monitor should definitely be underneath your pinna, as @davidcotton mentioned already.

That's normal. I believe it's just something to do with how silicone IEMs/faceplates are made, because I've also seen it on Custom Art's IEMs, Spiral Ear's IEMs, etc.

Update, the US representative never got back to me.

(But I did hear from the Manhattan rep I dealt with previously, but it was because he moved to a different headphone company, and wanted to see if I'd be a customer...)

I think it's an issue of fine tolerances... the ear canal is very sensitive. If the mold/measurements are slightly off, or the manufacture adds just a tiny bit extra, discomfort can be quite intense. I've gotten customs from 2 companies. The other, Empire Ears, got it right in 1 try, at the Head Fi show (but, to continue my customs nightmare, 1 of the acrylic headphones snapped in half). acs in NY repeated my molds multiple times, and it still hurts my left ear.

I think it probably is because they are silicone. I've heard of this happening to others. Not actually sure what happened-i left them on my bed table in the morning, came home from work, they were on the floor, one snapped in half. No one ever fessed up.

I know that feeling, particularly in the left (whilst typically it's the right that's caused issues in the past due to a narrow canal and curve right at the start). Feels like it should be a bit thicker, but then it hurts if I have it done like that so have learnt to just go with it.

Did you ever think to send your pre snapped Empire Ears (which model btw?) in with the molds for comparison?

Turns out the issues I'd been having with customs was largely down to the previous audiologist not covering the tragus part of the ear, despite being asked. I think if they'd done that I wouldn't have had half the issues.

I have problems in my left ear generally as well. Both customs ear mold were made by company staff. Not sure why EE got it in 1 try, ads didn't in many tries (they actually did get it too be fitting well once, but I had to return it because of the cable attachment and other problems. When I got it back, the left ear foot was off again.

I did send EE a message, and they said they'd did it (for a fee, of course, as I was past the year covered). I would send them, but in the interim I did one of those scatter brained things-i put them away somewhere so they wouldn't get lost or damaged further, and, of course, I can't recall wherei put them and haven't found them. Oh, the model was the Phantom, and the molds were some at the NY Head Fi Show, and I never got a copy of the molds (am I supposed to? I assumed they are their property, not mine (as they would be if I went to an audiologist just for molds). acs never gave me molds either (though I never asked for them...would that be the thing to do?)

Nowadays it seems to be standard that if you ask for your molds to be returned they will do. That said not every company likes impressions that have been used and prefer new ones anyway (vision ear springs to mind). Acs might well send you a copy of the digital scans (.stl I believe) but if you had problems with the fit I'm not sure that it would be worth the hassle really.

Oh and ouch on losing the phantoms!

Are there anymore ear impressions for the Emotion?
Especially when compared with Andromeda, Inear SD 5, Earsonics Purple, all good 5-driver competitors.

I moved on but I still have mine. Can't vouch for any of the above but I have a pair of 64audio Nios and an ier-z1r and whilst these are not twice as good (for being twice the price) they are a good step up.

My emotions have been relegated.
