I have to say that I'm not fully impressed with my newly bought ACS Emotion Universal either. Impedance is ultra-low. It picks up hisses from my ZX2 even much more than the very sensitive Ultrasone IQ which has been reported from several online reviews for picking up hisses. Another big regret is that the connector is ACS own proprietary 5-pin cable, so no chance to change to an aftermarket cable. I have contacted the UK representative and asked if I could buy connectors from them so that I could make DIY cable, which they said no.

Sound quality wise though it sounds great. Technically highly capable. And for the price of 399 pounds this is a steal.
Something like ifimatch might help with the hiss if that is an option?

i just ordered my emotion customs - are you guys still have the same issues? the thread got inactive and there isn't any really info on the emotions in comparison to the encore.

i made my purchase after demoing them and was reassured by the london office that the issues that people had in this thread - such as the cable - have been amended.

Nice. Been tempted by the Evolve ambient one's myself (current situation doesn't allow for emotions sadly) and got a set of digital impressions that I can email them.

What were your impressions (ho ho) on the emotions? The cable issue should have been resolved due to the fact they swapped out the proprietary ones they developed for good old 2 pin so no issues there. Fit will come down to whoever did your impressions knowing what they were doing.

I had issues with the old (5 pin?) cable connection on my custom emotions but fortunately within the warranty period and so acs remade them with the new two pin connection and i have had no issues with the connection since - it is rock solid...

Only complaint with these - and one which is not restricted to acs - is that the tubes do fill up with moisture (probably sweat) which is difficult to extract because of the acoustic dampener just below the opening.

Over time the treble and mids become muffled as a result of the water droplets which are plain to see through the silicon.

I solved this by removing the dampeners completely which opened the iems back up to the wow factor i experienced when i first got them and now helps them dry out much faster!

i thought thats what the revivo was for. does the revivo not fix those things?

well, listening to the evolve and the evoke demo versions sounded quite awful, although there were small instances where i was impressed, they weren't nearly as good as my current etymotics. i don't think they are really that bad in practice though, because i demoed them in my iphone with no dongle, and the dongle that they use in the london office is not really that good, meaning i wasn't hearing anything to its full potential. the emotions was just the one that was both exciting enough.

the main purpose of going for ACS was just that the silicone mould would offer the most optimal isolation. reading around, some people think there's a substantial difference between silicone and acrylic in this regard, others just think its a small difference, but for me i think even a small increase would be beneficial for me. the purpose of this IEM is just to have something in my ear whilst studying.

i decided ACS over custom art because of the fact that I could visit the london office if i did have any issues and right now it was about £200 cheaper than the harmony 8.2 which was the other thing i was considering. reading around, people were saying that the harmony was more analytical whereas the emotion more 'musical', and considering i already have an 'analytical' IEM in the etymotics (very pleased with them for the past year/2) i thought going with the emotion was just a no brainer.

im very excited for my first ciem

Did you not get the revivo dryer?

Might be a good choice right now. Got a very soft spot for Piotr and Custom Art but sadly right now with Brexit around the corner and the euro in the *******, now isn't the best time to be dealing with europe until things settle down again. Plus having the hq on the door stop for you from the sound of things makes it a heck of a lot easier to get things sorted if there are any issues.

thats strange

i asked them about the revivo, because on the website it says that it should be used before every use, but they assured me that id actually be barely using it because i'll just be using it at home and that its mostly aimed at those on stage where they are sweating and the moisture is building up

I exercise circa 5x a week with mine in - you might be ok if you don't ....

My Emotions are out of warranty, cable connecting and fit have been an issue since I got then. Returned them, got then back, same problem. Now I'm sure it will cost me to change connectors and adjust fit. Like the sound of these, but wouldn't recommend these guys.

Were you dealt with by the uk or international branch? That seems to be the difference.

I'm sorry to hear that your bad experience was not eventually resolved.

I also had fit and connection issues - mine went back at least 7 times within the warranty period (and the subsequent extended warranty period) until I was happy with the fit and connection issues....

..... which were ultimately solved.

It was a pain in the backside to get these right but now they are an awesome bit of kit and i cannot fault their customer service.

i've read every page on this thread and asked them about the possible issues. it seems to me that from december 2019, they have refreshed the encore in order to combat these. i was even told that the moisture issue wasn't as apparent due to the fact that the drivers are actually now protected in individual silicone pods or something along those lines

its unfortunate doctorjazz kind of had to be the guinea pig for this kind of thing though. companies like custom art and spiral ears got modern silicone CIEMs down the first time around, the SE5 is YEARS old, and they are much smaller companies with less history. i couldn't find nearly as many problems with the build quality with those two companies compared to ACS. perhaps this kind of thing happened because their company covers more things, such as hearing protection for the military, whereas custom art and spiral ears are just dedicated to audiophiles.

also wanna add that at the time this thread was made, ACS was seemingly endorsed by big named artists. i had no idea about this because looking on their UK website, it had just people who were maybe supporting big name artist or just random small ones that, albeit professional, do little for marketing.

ive seen radiohead, deadmau5, jessie j and t pain mentioned on the American website but nothing even close to this on the UK. that was kinda weird.

however all of that aside, does the emotion sound different from the encore? can i apply the reviews that people gave the encore to this one? i read somewhere the encore had 2BA dedicated to bass, which isn't true for the emotion at least
