Achmedisdead... is in fact...

Randy (or Archimedes as I called him), we're all going to miss you bro.  Our loss bro, our loss for sure.

I almost forgot about the Archimedes thing. I remember thinking I was the only one who made it that in my head, and then I discovered that quite a few people did the same thing. Just one of those dozens of good memories that come to mind now that I look back. And those Despicable Me minions he always posted at just the right time in a thread. That always put a smile on my face.

There's not much more I can say other than what I've already said here and in the TMAC thread. I'm just going to remember all the good times we all had with Randy in TMAC and elsewhere on Head-Fi. A part of him lives on in this place, in the minds and hearts of all of us who traded posts with him or benefited from his contributions. I'll do my part to keep that part alive.

I may not be one who knew Achmedisdead as well as many of you others here, but his presence in the threads, joking around occasionally, is something I will miss seeing around here. Although we weren't close, I did enjoy the little chats we had within the threads along the way.

I wish to send my condolences to his family and friends, and those who knew him better than I did, as I am sure it's not an easy to thing to go through, but I do hope for all the best.

R.I.P. my fellow Head-Fi'er. You won't be forgotten; not on Head-Fi anyways.

Remembering Randy is akin to remembering the times you spoke with him.

I did a site search and found the times we spoke
http://www.head-fi.org/newsearch?Search=SEARCH&action=disp&advanced=1&byuser=Achmedisdead&newer=1&numupdates=&order=descending&output=posts&replycompare=gt&sdate=0&search=bowei006&sort=relevance&titleonly=0

It is deeply humbling, mortal, and with my upmost respect that I was able to have been a part of his life, and him a part of mine. Just a few days ago, he was alive, him in his world, and me in mine. In where we both 'knew' the other yet having never met. But here we are now, a few days later, and he is gone.

It is deeply unnerving, how deep the human condition goes, and just how tragic the world can be.

I mean, it's not like we didn't know it was Achmedisdead... especially after Currawong added the link in his sig... but it always seemed to make sense the other way.  He probably thought we were morons.

Well that sucks to hear, my condolences go out to the family. Should we honor him by changing our avatars to Achmed?

That is an EXCELLENT IDEA!

This is very sad news. My prayers go out to his family and friends.
And as I know he liked Pink Floyd

May he rest in peace and hopefully they'll send him off with at least a couple of his ipods.

I already said a few words in the TMAC thread though I'll express my condolences to Randy's family and friends again.

I remember before joining Head-Fi reading Achmedes posts in the source gear section, especially one thread about the new EQ apps for iPods which surfaced around that time. Since then I knew Achmed as a real fan of Sansa products and generally any DAP with strong UI, he also loved his smartphones, we used to have some great conversations and sometimes even disagree to some extend though we'd always converse as friends via PM speaking about gear he was loaning or traded, his stance on certain subjects, new products.

Sometimes he'd contact me out of the blue at random striking up conversation which I found a pleasant surprise. Often during his mornings while having Coffee.

I must say, I will miss having him around we used to have some amusing times. in honour of Achmed I will wear his avatar with pride for one week.

It certainly does seem like a good idea. I've updated my signature as well. I'm glad this thread is here. Just hearing about what happened in the TMAC thread made it feel like our own private loss. Seeing all the people on Head-Fi who knew Randy post their respects in this thread shows just how many people he impacted on here.

I can't say that I knew him, not having crossed paths with him, but I really liked his humorous posts.

He was the kind of guy that could really brighten an otherwise gloomy day.

I'm going to a jam session tonight, will dedicate it to him.

I hope that, wherever he might be, he's having some serious fun.

My deepest condolecences to his family and close friends.
