I have never been to an audio show, but I'm wondering how it is even possible to audition an open-back headphone when there are a lot of people talking nearby.

And with COVID case numbers on the rise in many areas, it still seems risky to be indoors in a crowded setting without mandatory masking.

Better stay home.

Unfortunately that's just one of the drawbacks of canjam.
It can be hard to get really good impressions due to background noise, and not being able to spend all that much time with something.

But you can still most definitely get a good feel for the overall traits of stuff.

Also, at some shows like Munich high-end a lot of the vendors have separate, isolated rooms where you can listen in a very quiet environment.
Hopefully this might become more of a thing at canjam in future

Better stay home.
Two weeks paid vacation. Two weeks paid disability. Bartonella was worse plus Lyme's killed COVID with 7 antibiotic treatment bed ridden. Taking medicine for sizueres and anti physcotics because the little buggers drill holes. Consumption is worse as lungs liquefy

But COVID is a bad flu that makes you go up and down. You'll think you feel better but craps you out when you trying doing activities. If you are prone to lung issues that's dangerous part

This isn't the place for a COVID discussion (it's NOT a "bad flu"), but really you should update your knowledge of the research. For example, a study of a large group of veterans found that nearly half of them developed long-haul COVID, despite being vaccinated. Other studies find that people over 65 are much more likely than younger folk to develop severe illness despite being vaccinated. And there are more risk factors for severe illness than just "lung issues." For example, obesity, diabetes, and clinically significant depression.

I think the important thing is to respect other people's space and safety habits. I'll be wearing a mask for most of the event, and hand sanitizing the heck out of my mitts/ likely won't be shaking a lot of hands. These kinds of events are how viruses like Covid spread quickly. We need to be cool with other people's comfort level. We can't just ignore the virus even if we're tired of the lockdowns and isolation. So we talk about it because it's not going away (sadly). If you really never want to hear about Covid anymore, don't interact with others.
