very similar to the MDR-V400... according to partstore.com they share many of th same components.

I would stay away... since you can find a used/refurb MDRV6 for around $60.

I have personally heard the MDR-7502. I wouldn't recommend it for music listening: It delivers grainy mids, no bass and no treble. (Its frequency response rating of only 60Hz - 16,000Hz does not inspire confidence.) It's not even an MDR-V4 - but it's more like an MDR-V2.

I guess it's not like the [now defunct] MDR-7504 then. No bass in those but fairly good treble.

I bought these headphones late night, on an impulse, I just needed a simple over the ear headphones that were not too expensive.
 
I've decided they are the WORST headphones ever, it sounds like listening to music through a telephone with a bad reception, PLEASE AVOID THESE HORRIBLE HEADPHONES.
