This will not be a review on the Sound Clarity® SI500. However they deserve one. This is moreover to bring some enlightenment to HeadFiers..
Recently I made a comment in another thread about buying a pair of Meelec M-Duos with dual dynamic drives after falling for Amazon review hype. I wanted to try the A161's but despite great reviews by HeadFiers I am reluctant to try them after the M-Duo's didn't pan out (poorly colored bass, boxy, hollow and boomy sounding). However where the M-Duo were over priced @ $70 earphones the Able Planet Sound Clarity® SI500 are not over priced..
On the contrary. I bought them at the same time as the M-Duo's. I got the copper ones (look more bronze). I burned both earphones in for 60 hours. Yes I know that armature type phones don't often need burn in but it never hurts.. The sound is balanced with good detail and strong non boomy bass.. And yes this pair of armature drivers do very much need break in.. BTW they do look a bit fragile.. I want to bobble gosh all over the place and say that they sound like a $200 dollar pair and that they are the best ever in a three element driven earphone.. But I can't. .
I can't because I have not heard other three element earphones so I really don't know.. And do not want my enthusiasm to over cloud my judgement or over bill the earphones.. HOWEVER they do indeed need praising. For $50 they are a huge bang for the buck worth at least a discounted price at Amazon for $100 and you may feel after hearing them that they are worth a whole lot more... Just please burn them in for 60 hours as they sound sibilant and grainy till burn in happens.
In conclusion where the Meelec M-Duo's @ $70 were a disappointment the Able Planet Sound Clarity® SI500 @ $50 certainly is not...
