This is my another Raspberry PI setup on the go.
RPI2(piCorePlayer), Hifiberry DAC+, Portaphile627 and a mobile battery(2500mAh)
Sounded awesome!

My portable RPI article is here(sorry Japanese).

Hi, I'm a complete noob on the RPI, does the HifiBerry Dac sound better than the Mojo and how do these setups compare to computer or CD players? TIA!

I wish the g2 labs Berry NOS DAC 1543 was still in production would probably be amazing to add it to an rpi.

Hummingboard base has coaxial outputs if someone wanted that. I was thinking of making a build with the hummingboard base so it can feed my bifrost. But A good usb reclocker would probably beat coaxial.

DAC-wise the Mojo is better. But you can use your favorite amp in DAC+ setup. The SQ is well comparable to usual DAP+amp setups.
Plus you can use decent remote iPhone player(I use iPeng9).

I think you can also refer to this link if you are worrying about SQ of RPI+Hifiberry. Bryston employs RPI&Hifiberry Digi+ in their latest gear.

I think most around here suggest using RPi with Hifiberry Digi+ which allows hooking up via Coax RCA or Toslink to your favorite DAC (e.g. Mojo)... Many suggest this approach yields surprisingly little interference, so good playback quality.

Yeah, very intresting.  Ill be intrested to see what they use on the software side.  I think that a big company using a Pi setup will open a lot of peoples eyes as to what can be done with the setup.  I really want to try the hifiberry digi+ with my DAC but have told my self I need to sell my RCA version first.

Given that the current Bryston BDP-2 Digital Player uses Linux, it's very likely they'd be cooking their own version of Linux (possibly a fork of existing Pi distros). The only question is that since they will be distributing the distro, will they be making the source available to the public?

  Now this is interesting!

Any ideas why they're out of stock?

No idea. I like how it even has balanced output.

Even the newer cubie board CNII is out of stock.

I hope they release more boards like this.

Though you could probably just buy an I2s based dac and hook up the RPI via I2s. Going direct with I2s is a way better than S/PDIF as it by passes the whole S/PDIF conversion.

This could be an interesting I2s dac for RPI http://www.soekris.dk/dam1021.html  All discrete no DAC chip, does the DA conversion old school with a resistor ladder.

I'd be very interested in that? Is it possible to just hook up the Soekris board to the RPi? Are they compatible?
