Head-Fi made a lot of money from sponsorship. If they allow someone to make money for free here, that'd affect their standing and their sponsors won't be happy to keep paying large sum of money to support Head-Fi.

There was time I was interested in DAP modification business too and tried to become their sponsor. But their moderators at that time failed to establish partnership with me so I didn't become their sponsor and quit posting in Head-Fi.

After several years of fantastic service and musical bliss, it’s time to send my beloved Calyx M for a full service and upgrade program to Steve in the UK aka N**p***.
I would like to know this upgrade

I always had a modded one and a „original“ one. Well, in the end the original always won (after a few months of being in love with the modded ones). BUT i don’t know your UK guy, so good luck 👍🤜
NP is realy great
Hé saved my lotoo gold

You ever get the arm2? What's your thoughts and how it compares to today's flagships?
Yes, I got it and absolutely love it. You can check my comments and impressions on the dedicated thread https://www.head-fi.org/threads/acoustic-research-m2-audiophile-grade-hi-res-portable.754114/

Well, I did not listen to SP3K, RS8 or M9, but I had a N8ii, a P6 Pro and still have a LPGT. From a sound perspective, the AR-M2 was, is and remains a TOTL sounding device for those leaning to an energetic, dynamic, clean and highly detailed signature. As you read, I don’t use the words « bright » or « reference » or « neutral ». This is by purpose as the AR-M2 is a truly fantastic DAP with no shortcomings soundwise. It never will be « outdated », as long as we talk about pure sound and playback enjoyment.

The Calyx M is as highly ranked as the AR-M2 in my book. It’s another signature, but also mastered by its conceptors.

By the way, my Calyx M is still in the UK for service and upgrade. I let Steve 2 months to experiment on it before returning it to me.

My modded and serviced Calyx has landed yesterday. The device came back as new as it gets. Steve did an outstanding job. The volume slider has been replaced and it now slides extremely precisely with the right amount of resistance. User experience improved.

Sound wise, just listening to it again after so many weeks was like being pushed in the guts. Goosebumps interrupted. Along with the AR-M2, clearly the best DAP ever in my book.

Difficult to compare it to stock from now on, because parts require extended playing time and memory is not helping as it’s been a while since I sent the device to Steve.

The most important is that the Calyx M sounds as glorious as never before. Cult audio device.

I highly recommended sending your devices to Steve for a service, a mod or any part replacement you may need. Prices are fair, communication is exemplary and the job done absolutely excellent.
