Sounds like it could be battery not holding much charge.
Never used one but I guess this is what you have tried

1. Turn off your Calyx M
2. Remove MicroSD card if any
3. Boot M by pressing the power button while holding REW (<<) key
4. The display will be still on after the logos of Calyx M and f-clef showing up.
5. Press and release REW(<<) key while pressing power button
6. Now you are in the update mode. In this mode the display is upside down.

Edit, just seen your post, I thought the logo disappeared but it comes back on in a never ending loop ?

Have you tried booting without a card in ?

OK maybe these are better instructions

1. Turn off Calyx M and make sure battery is over 30%
2. Press and hold power and previous button
3. After white Calyx M logo flashing out, release buttons
4. After white Calyx M logo flashing in again, press and hold power and previous button then and release previous button after 1 second
5. After recovery menu boots up, release power button

Try charging it 8h in a row. I had that problem once and it worked afterwards. Otherwise, contact Calyx....if they answer...

That‘s the problem, because as you know, the Calyx M HAS to be used every day for at least one hour
