The pads are made of real Bavarian hair.

As in, they found a guy on the street in Munich. They took him the the Sennheiser hide out. Tear, tear, out with his chest hair.
Voila! You have earpads, made in Germany.

The cost of accessories should be taken into account very seriously when buying used stuff. Here's my story: I wanted to buy used HD650. I ended buying HD600 because I could not find reasonably priced HD650 at that time. Paid 180 EUR incl. shipping for HD600 (HD600 alone was 170 EUR). When they arrived I found out they where probably a little more than hardly used as described by eBay seller. So I had to replace ear pads, headband pad and cable. 50 EUR for ear pads, 15 EUR for headband pad and 30 EUR for cable, all prices include shipping. So all in all I paid 275 EUR for my used HD600. For 25 EUR more I could get HD650 with Cardas cable from reputable head-fi seller, but that seemed over my budget at that time. I do love the sound out of HD600.  But as a good head-fier I will of course buy HD650 at some point in the future.

Dang man... $60. That is a bit ridiculous, regardless of whether it is a business or not

I just ordered my HD650's today to accompany my RS1's! Hopefully they won't be needing any replacement pads anytime soon.

I just realized, after writing that reply, that I recently spent nearly $80 to decide on a standard choice of three of Grado's pads: Flats, Bowls & Comfies, which are all made of seemingly inexpensive foam... I guess that's pretty ridiculous too.

Just try making pads and see that it's actually quite difficult to make your own pads, and remember, you need a specific type of velour or else the sound will suffer.
