After I´ve spend 3 days with the bocur adapter, it´s become a double edged sword for me. On the one hand I really like the sound with the adapter, but on the other hand I miss the directness of the sound, the "being right there with the musicians", which makes the monks (apart from other qualities) so special for me. I also noticed that my AM1 module even on high gain lacks power when I use the adapter, and I´m not sure if I´d like to spend another € 130,- for an AM2. Will spend some more time listening. Oh well, life can be difficult sometimes.....

my Audeze adaptor has the same effect...a more spatial sound,
so i use it when i am listening to soundtracks or classicals when i crave that "space"....
and juiced thru the Audiogd amp :))

Mine arrived a couple days ago, and the thickest foams, the red ones, are the ticket for me. The newer ones that come in pairs of red and blue are scratchy and very thin, and I think they bring out too much of the highs. The thick red foams are very comfortable and  give a more balanced sound. I don't understand the physics. I ordered the expansion pack, and I'm not sure if those thick red foams came with the expansion pack or are standard issue.

I'm enjoying the Monk+ A LOT and think it's a noticeable upgrade over the Monk v.1. Richer and more clear sound, more balanced between highs and lows, without the irritating resonance I was getting in certain lower frequencies with v. 1.  With the right foams.

I've got red and blue foams that came with my Monk+.  The red don't look any thicker than the blue.  Is this an expansion pack item only?  One other thing I noticed were some of my albums did't sound right with the Monk+.  I'll use Unisonic's Light of Dawn for an example.  The production on this album is top notch.  With my headphones and original Monks, this album sounds beautiful, good instrument separation, and bass.  With the Monk+, there's no bass and the mids and highs are to harsh which makes it difficult to listen to.  I noticed this with several others I listened to as well.  Surely I'm not the only one experiencing this?  It's got me confused a bit now that I've had some time with them.

The red thick foam he mentioned i think is the set that comes with the old Monk.

And its included with my expansion pack with the red blue foam.

Gotcha.  I didn't get the expansion pack.  I could try my original monk foams, but I don't think it will change why some of my music is sounding completely different.  I ordered two Monk+ and I'm going to try the other one when I get home today.  Maybe I got a dud, but I don't know yet.

Well, with the bocur adapter it´s not only more spatial, the music sounds just beautiful. Shiny, sparkly, and that from mids to highs. No, I don´t think I can live without the adapter.

I've given up on the Monk+ until I get home.  My original Monks foams did as I thought, but still have the issue with completely different tonality with 8 albums so far.  I've tried this with my PC, laptop, tablet, and smart phone with the Monk+ and these albums that sound fine with my headphones and original Monks, yet sound terrible and are unbearable with the Monk+.  I'm leaning towards these being a dud since no one else has reported this or perhaps hasn't experienced it yet.   Hoping I don't experience this with my other pair.

I've spent 5 days listening Monk plus and I'm super impressed! Simply astounding sound, not only for their price, but also in general, no matter price! I find them very pleasant sounding and don't find them sibilant at all. I have normal pack so they didn't come with centre open foams, so I made them by myself because I felt I needed little more brightness. Now they sound fantastic through my desktop DAC/Amp. Of course I normally use my full sized cans on my desktop setup, but I still want listen to Monks because they're so awesome.

Received my pair of Monk +'s  48 hours ago and did an overnight burn in. Gotta say, after a 4 hour session, I'm also very impressed. They're a noticeable improvement over my Blox M2c's and BE3's. I didn't get the expansion pack, but I did have various foam pads lying around from Sennheisers, Yuin's, M-Rice's bells, etc. that gave me plenty of foam pad options. In the end, I went for foam pads ( no idea what they are or where they came from ) that are about 1.5 times the thickness of the ones provided by VE with a lot more solid build to them. These foams are a nice middle ground between the right amount of clarity and bass. Instead of hooking these Monks up to something high end, I plugged them into something basic, but known for decent sound....my Sansa Clip+ running the rockbox firmware. The Clip drives these pretty well and the rockbox settings allows for a good amount of adjustments, so right out of the starting gate, I'm fond of the combination. VE has done an excellent job here and show how an inexpensive $5 earbud can make a lot of other audio equipment, including my own Yuin Pk1's seem overpriced. Will try them with higher end equipment, but so far these live up to the hype. What immediately stood out for me was strong forward vocals and impressive bass. Now I'm curious about VE's other, more expensive earbuds and how much of an improvement they are over the Monk +'s, because these are damn good.

These earbuds are freaking amazing but they don't fit my ears right unless I'm completely still. Where can I buy accessories to get them to fit and stay in my ears? Should I wait till VE has the expansion pack or can I go to an actual store? ..... Sorry if this has been answered, but I'm not reading over 200 pages.

easiest way to solve this is get the expansion pack, put on the rubber rings, and then put the foams on top of that. I'm pretty sure you'll find they suddenly sit in place super easily. That;s the setup I use on both my monk and zen.

Day 4 with the bocur adapter. More and more pros in favor of the adapter. What stands out the most is the clearer and cleaner sound. When I switch back to only monks they sound  a bit distorted now with some audio files. All imo of course.
