So coming back to the 75ohm adaptors for a moment.
The Bocur Copper Adaptor vs the Silver version? Which is better? Or does this get crazy because of the controversy about silver and copper? Or should I leave this to my judgement and just pick one?

Thanks for your help.

Well it is up to what you prefer. With silver you'll have more treble while the copper will reveal more bass. I think it would be better to go with hybrid cable if you want both. ;)

Measurements please (silver more treble, copper more bass

)

I know this is OT - but read my U6 review - different cables, silver, silver plated copper, copper => practically no difference
Measured
Listened to
Volume matched

Biggest difference was actually the volume matching

If you want to use an impedance adaptor - the cable won't matter at all.  Pick one with the colour you like

I completely agree, unless there is an impedance mismatch between two cables it will be almost impossible to pick out any differences

Thanks fellas. I wasn't sure about the differences, I went with the pure copper, couldn't justify the $10 more for the silver for just that reason. Even if the copper has more bass is true, I prefer bass. So it all works out in the end. Ill also try in the future to get the other two variants and check for myself. For now I just want to figure out what this difference is with an impedance adaptor.

Like they say everyone hears different things. Thus resulting in different experiences.

Thanks again. :D

Just got the monks plus. This time around it took the package about 2 weeks to arrive, which is nowhere near the 2 months I waited for the original monks, so no complaints here.
As far as sound goes, I just gave them a very quick listen and first impressions are positive. The low end has better depth and a bit more presence. The treble is a bit smoother and overall the new monk is definitely more natural sounding. The old version is a touch clearer but sounds somewhat harsher and more artificial.
These are just early impressions without using any covers on both the old and the new monks and the foam covers definitely help the old monk.

Glad you came to a choice and can live with it. Ignore (hard as it may be:flushed:) the others imploring you to spend more...It's your $.

A couple things I've noticed about the Monk+ over the last few days.  The new foam covers are not as comfortable.  My ears get irritated after a couple of hours of use due to the rubbing on my skin.  As the days have gone on, the highs are a little too harsh for me.  This wasn't present initially because I wasn't able to listen for as long as I have the past two days.  I doubled up the foams to see if this would take care of it, which it did, but comfort and fit have changed for the worse as well as loss of details in the music.  I'm going to experiment some more and try to find something that works.

Mine arrived a couple days ago, and the thickest foams, the red ones, are the ticket for me. The newer ones that come in pairs of red and blue are scratchy and very thin, and I think they bring out too much of the highs. The thick red foams are very comfortable and  give a more balanced sound. I don't understand the physics. I ordered the expansion pack, and I'm not sure if those thick red foams came with the expansion pack or are standard issue.

I'm enjoying the Monk+ A LOT and think it's a noticeable upgrade over the Monk v.1. Richer and more clear sound, more balanced between highs and lows, without the irritating resonance I was getting in certain lower frequencies with v. 1.  With the right foams.

After I´ve spend 3 days with the bocur adapter, it´s become a double edged sword for me. On the one hand I really like the sound with the adapter, but on the other hand I miss the directness of the sound, the "being right there with the musicians", which makes the monks (apart from other qualities) so special for me. Oh well, life can be difficult sometimes.....

I had both Monk and Monk+.

For Monk I am using red doughnut foam. So when Monk+ came, I automatically put on the red doughnut foam which I did wrong. Somehow the clarity of the Monk+ don't match the old Monk. After reading posts here I went to play around with the foam and rubber rings.

After testing, I prefer Monk+ with 1 layer of scratchy foam cover which somehow brings out the clarity which matches the old Monk with red doughnut foam.

Who knew the foams and stuffs can makes so much difference in the earbuds~ lol
