you guys probably aren't old enough or have been on the thread long enough to remember the old Sennheiser MX400/500, and I'm pretty sure based on what I'm hearing, its the SAME cans...
those were at the time, like the KSC-35 the value leaders, but most people did not like the fit.
The size, shape, and sound is so similar, I only can reckon that this chinese company OEM'd for Sennheiser, and now are producing them as Senn isn't.
Well my friend your impressions don't reflect the truth or your mind is playing tricks on you if you still don't have the MX400.
I still have a Sennheiser MX400 and even the drivers and the internals aren't the same. The cable on MX400 is thinner. And the sound cannot touch Monk's beautiful addicting sound. They all sound very different. It's like comparing apples and oranges. MX400 sounds rubbish compared to Monk and Monk+. It has very thin bass thin and undetailed mids and recessed treble.
Lastly I don't think Lee copied some crappy Sennheiser drivers. Furthermore they can learn something about how they should tune their drivers.

I'm 38 years old and I had all old MX series (200/400/500). Also MX170/270/271/260/360/470. They all sound rubbish to me compared to Monk.
Can you see the differences? MX400 has clearly thinner cable and smaller magnet. Not to mention the sound of course
