1MORE H1707 Triple-Driver Over Ear
May 23, 2020 at 2:33 PM Post #1,186 of 1,586
For months, I was perfectly happy using my IMR R2 Red`s powered with the Hiby R5.

Then,.. I started looking at headphones again due to comfort/no twiddling in my ears ( are there any in-ear that don`t require this periodically?).... and somehow found myself following this 1more H1707 on-ear thread.

FFWD a few weeks where I managed to buy a H1707 from amazon UK "like new " for £82... (still happens!!!)

Initially,... it was good ( what I was used to)….. but I was not enamoured.

Then, started looking at your H1707 mods to bring the mids/highs forward with a foam gasket modification, however,... it had potential right off the bat (bass sounded right).Tonality was right... missing the "striking" impact also.

I then ordered a balanced cable (any balanced cable made for the hifiman HE400S, 400i, 560 etc will be fine)..

Jaw drop!!!!!! (no mods required). I totally get why some reviewers state these cans need a lot of power. The R5 delivers it easily in balanced!

Thank you so much for bringing this headphone to my attention. Easily, the best £82 I have spent on this addiction so far.

I used a very dull butter knife, and levered the pads off a little at a time.

These really are great headphones. Currently listening balanced off of the BTRK3, using the Nighthawk pads, and they are sounding awesome (and feeling very comfortable). I am also loving them with Yamaha MT220 pads - quite a more hard hitting bass. Great headphones.

I’d love to try some night hawk pads. Can you still buy them?

Sorry, I don't know for sure (although I suspect the answer is "no").

I started track this topic after Zeos reviews. I paid 135 gbp for MDR MA-900 new, 70~ akg y50bt new, logitech g pro 70~, opened - never used (all 3: 1) for music and gaming, 2) for music on the way to work 3) for gaming with sound isolation. I found 1More H1707 for 49.80, refurbished, I can't seem to stop collecting headphones now, and want to hear h1707 asap, would you recommend to get a refurb ? Would it beat at least one of the above I mentioned ?

$50? That’s a no brainer. I’d buy it just for spare parts for that price.

They should easily beat the Logitech and the AKG. Not entirely sure about the Sony but probably too. Don't forget that the H1707 were originally released as a USD 300 headphone and come reasonably close to this value in terms of sound quality.

Sounds about right, almost a price of all my 3 headphones, lol, that's a tough one. And description also says

  • UPC# 190280100603, silver colour in description and in pictures. could these still be with graphene? They would be sending from Netherlands
PS. 9:00am. Just got response from seller, it's graphene driver

Exactly. H1707 is originally a $300 headphone. That is why I said a fully refurbished one for $49 is a no-brainer! You would have to be crazy to pass that up lol

ok bought it, last unit left on ebay, seller 1more_official_outlets, but the seller on paypal is chinese, weird, postage by courier from Neds, if anyone still looking to get graphene version for 49.8 gbp, roughly 60 usd.

Also MA900 also were 299 usd at start, and I have dropped many headphones due to MA900 being good everywhere in music, movies, gaming. In the last 7 years, there were none that I wanted to keep as daily driver (akg 550, senn 598, 429, got rid of those , lol). I prolly got deaf by this time, but 50-60$ I don't mind to spend on 300 $ like headphones, omg, as long as they as close to people comments as possible, prolly i will still hear differently

Worst case scenario is that you'll have wasted $60US. Best case is that they become your favorite headphones (like they have for me).

Sidenote: I've always been intrigued by the MA900's, but I think my AD900X's are similar. The H1707's are quite different beasts (closed back, more powerful bass, less comfortable), but at the very least, the H1707's will compliment your MA900's nicely. P.S. if you replace the H1707 pads, they can become quite comfortable.
