It doesn't matter. The resampling is a digital gremlin. It would still show up with an outboard DAC.

What's the price difference?

I got the fake for $200 (which was overpriced). I've sunk a total of about $1300 on the s4 I lost and now the s4 I have h34r:

Which would you choose?

Fake S4
Pros:
Superior audio quality (less hiss, no android 48k resampling shenanigans (outputs directly in 44.1k)
Better browser (still can't find any aftermarket browser on the other s4 to match it >. >)

Cons:
Atrocious battery life (I just keep my mobile charger connected to it all the time)
Tiny internal storage
Drops voice calls quite a few times a day

Real S4
Pros:
Doesn't drop voice calls
Longer battery life (but still not a full day's worth)

Cons:
Hissy resampled audio
Crap browsers

Hmm, considering I can't understand any Chinese, if I ever had to reset the fake phone I'd be screwed.
 
Aside from that, I'd choose the one with the better battery life. A mobile phone is supposed to be, well, mobile. So having something with nearly no battery life defeats the purpose of a mobile phone.

I'm afraid you're asking the wrong person My answer to all questions about sonic impressions for headphones is "they sound pretty meh stock, but awesome after some surgical EQ" and these CIEMs are no exception. They are rather peaky in the treble but parametric EQ takes care of that. They also don't go down to 20Hz but that's to be expected of a single BA design.
