Which live action anime adaptations do you like?

They tend to be embarrassingly bad (who can forget Dragonball Evolution? *shudder*), but this one is decent:

If you're in the US, Canada, Australia, or some Latin American countries, here's a legal link to watch it:

I watched the LA Assassination Classroom movie on my way to Japan. It definitely wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either...

I saw the anime, but not the movie. Surprised there is one! Looks like there's a sequel too. Guess I'll watch them sometime.

I'm a huge Higurashi fan, but the live action movies seem like they're terrible, so I'm hesitant to watch those.

Yeah, that seems to be the norm! XD A live action of any game or anime typically doesn't score very high with anyone. We'll see how Ghost In The Shell and SAO fare in tat regard.

Oh dear god...they're doing Sword Art Online too? That sounds...awkward.

Not sure if I'll watch the Attack On Titan ones either. It just feels wrong. haha

Honestly, i'd feel better if they had chosen a SAO movie LOL Its actually gonna be a TV adaptation! Dear god, no ;-;

I think i'll try the AoT live action. I mean, how bad can it be really be?!

Okay thanks for the action anime lists.

What about psychological and emotional anime that make you want to watch it in one sitting?

The two I've seen and liked are:
Higurashi
Elfen Lied

Not entirely sure I follow what is considered "emotional"  but I think these anime carry either the psychological and/or emotional tag you're looking for:
- Re:Zero
- Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (not psychological but definitely emotional)
- Kokoro Connect
- Another (i'd call it psychological but others would disagree)

My brother saw the movie with me and made a joke about how his super power is yelling "MIRACLE!" and randomly jumping into harm's way sideways. We reference it from time to time. haha

There's so much epic action in UBW that I think it's definitely worth watching no matter how wimpy he is. I'll admit Fate/Zero is much better, of course.

No just YouTube the fights.

Nothing worth watching but those. There's no reason to waste the extra time to watch anything else except the fights.

That's actually pretty funny. They should make it like a sitcom or something.

All I know is that things can get amazingly bad. Case in point:

(It would be better to just watch the movie to understand how bad it is. This only touches upon a few things.)

Higurashi is the main one that comes to mind for an anime that messes with your mind. I must have not noticed it on your profile. Did you see the rest of it?

Many of the ones I listed are emotionally intense. Clannad and Steins;Gate are also a powerful experience.

That is your opinion. I disagree, as do hundreds of thousands of other people.

I like ufotable's UBW a lot, probably more than F/Z poi. Because, Tousaka is such a nice gurl :3
Oh and that original epilogue was fantastic too

In other news, I found an expectedly good anime. Not sure why but the whole thing kinda gave me flashbacks of when I watched Disney movies as a child. Its called Kyousou Giga.

Interesting! Here's an excellent anime movie I've seen since I was little that's sort of like a Disney movie. Didn't even realize it was an anime until a few years ago.

This recent talk got me thinking. What makes something an "Action" anime?

Lots of anime have action but I don't think that makes them action anime. There's a certain feeling that I'd say has to be there to make something define as action.

The only ones mentioned so far that had me thinking "Yep 'action' anime." were Black Lagoon and probably Gangsta (very salty about this one...). Maybe Railgun might qualify on the fringes. I'd personally put GiTS up as an action anime before many others.
