Well how about redesigning the education system to make all exams open-book?

It makes no sense to make students memorize stuff in the 21th century, google is readily available everywhere.

I agree with that they should make exams reflective of learning and structure the classroom timeline in a way which makes it so that students retain vs just cram and forget. Easier said than done.

But about Google readily available everywhere: true until that awkward moment when you have to bust out your phone and google something during a conversation.

Of course. The coorelation of book smarts and what they will do for social classes doesn't exist. Surprisingly, when looked at throughout history, those that are born from middle or upper class have both been known to want to screw people over AND also fight for the people. There's just no real coorelation at the moment. For example, most of history's top fighters for social justice, and equality were from middle to upper class families.

What? I thought cows were already brown in some parts?

If only there was a study of guilt or empathy we could correlate it to. Almost like the fraud triangle.

Unintentionally insensitive phrase from the way back machine?

So many things to study, so little time.

I know that feel man....

I got myself so many different toys but ultimately I have no time to play with them.
mainly just tonnes of cool open-source libraries but I feel bad about my EEG headset that's collecting dust right now and I fear the same for my digital piano when it arrives.

seems unreal thinking back to my highschool days where I was bored out of my mind and decided to pickup anime as a pastime.

Hmmm, those good old times when goofing around doing nothing all evening was the way to go. Now I'm sitting here at 11pm still studying, spent my free time cooking and playing a bit of guitar real quick. The life of a grad student is truly marvelous.

What are you learning with? It's something that I take a look at every once in a while, but bounce off since I'm a terrible learner.

musictheory.net lol

interactive e-lessons basically.
My digital piano hasn't arrived yet so I'm just taking a look at what I'll be dealing with.
coming from zero musical background, it's like learning basic arithmetic all over again....

I suspect musicians knows these thing on the back of their heads right?

At a certain point, yes. But it's not the music theory that I have trouble with. I just can't handle sight reading and key signatures. Being able to read sheet music in real-time feels like speaking another language fluently, which is something I can't do.

Heh well it is true usually that property owners are usually more educated, sure, and men have pretty much always been dominant in decision making and whatnot from everything I've ever learned in history class, but alas, just because someone has more "book smarts" doesn't mean they know what's right from wrong if you will.

Oh yeah, the whole banana scandal, I remember my gf making a big deal of that when she learned about it. America screwed over a lot of Spanish speaking countries throughout the years... And I see what you mean, it's in America's interest to keep the world the way that's the most beneficial to us.

And no, I got an Arisaka Type 38 actually.
smily_headphones1.gif
After doing some research it's one of the earlier models probably made just about 100 years ago. I also didn't realize it but it's missing a handful of parts that will cost just about as much as I paid for the thing. Oh well.

The banana scandal was unfortunate. It's a sad part of American history yes. The American governemnt and military has only one duty. For the benefit, and in the interests of, the American people (and of course the shareholders/stockholders). Take it as what you will but it is the facet of how every nation does and should operate. And why I pay little mind to the disputes in Asia over the islands and what not.

Nice! Still an Arisaka though which is fine. Does yours have the seal or is it scratched out?

Lol, that's a little backwards by most American standards... Any idea why? Maybe everyone in your school is streaming porn netflix but they're not uploading anything??

I would argue that generally, people with more income are more educated (though not always the case for sure) and generally, people with higher education levels tend to make better life choices, at least viewed from what society considers "good choices". Thus the quote from Churchill methinks. :p

Yeah lol, that's very true. If other nations would have been involved it would have happened differently but from what I remember America pretty much single handedly tried to fight the "war on communism" that really didn't exist, just like the supposed "war on terror" right now. =_=

Partially. It looks like it was rubbed down but not ground off. I think it's so intriguing to look at the history of these guns and think about the possibility that they may have been used to kill people in the world wars, especially allied troops.

Remind me, did "we" win the war on drugs, or give up?

It's my home wifi haha. We technically pay for 120Mb/s but we get an effective 110Mb/s out of the wall at max from the times I tested. Not that I'm complaining. It was a momentary glitch. I restarted the wifi on my laptop and restarted my web browser and that fixed it. I was setting up some NAS stuff at that time so that may be something haha.

"In essence, it creates a world after its own image" - Marx referring to how the idea of what the middle class and nations of capitalism 'view' and create others that have the same principles and ideology.

It was never a war on communism. It was just a struggle between two mighty nations. The execuses and reasons they used to sell the idea to those below was just that....reasons and execuses for 'why' we must fight the enemy.

That's in good shape! Some people find those to be 'worth more' as many soldiers tried to intentionally scratch off the symbol. Yours doesn't show any sign of intentional removal but age and cleaning oils/brushes used on it over time.
It is a weird idea for some yeah, but in the end, it's really up to your set of standards and where you draw the line for stuff like this. Based on what I've read from gun forums about this idea on people that bring it up is that American gun owners don't take this idea too seriously or hold it to much regard. Many love shooting some AKs or collecting some fine Soviet/Russian ammo or weaponry as it is their hobby. I think this is a good way of viewing things as you really can't say that gun DID indeed do something. Else you would hold all used equipment that were involved in possible sexy time, death, or whatever in such taboo. Weapons that are clearly identified as having taken part in mass causalties are viewed differently and are generally stored in museams. Those are few and far though. As to be 'identified' means it had to have been used/owned by some famous dude.

The fear that the drug wars produce, how infatuated the urban population is with it, and the pervasive production of hit series dealing with the topic show it quite clearly. The war is a failure. It is and has always been a half-assed effort.

I do not support nor accept the War on Drugs. My take on history and actions of governemnts is generally one of leaving the politics and as much bias as I can out of it. One thing that you can note from such historic lessons is that any 'fight' must be met with the government by its full force or none at all.

Irregardless of what they want to claim the War on Drugs is, be it a cash grab, preventing legaliziation, or government regulation, the war has been half assed since the day it began.

Select countries have shown that at their height of their 'war' on drugs (as in a top issue that they put their full effort behind), that they were able to nearly eradicate it. During some of the regime changions in the Middle East of Aghanistan and others in that area as well as those of modern Asian countries like China, drug trade was nearly irradicated when the governemnt (or warlord) outlawed it and inflicted heavy amounts of force to regulate and enforce this. I forgot which group it was but one of the reigning Taliban groups that once controlled Afghanistan actually still had some remaining religious idelogy and outlawed the poppy and other 'hard drugs' (as we would consider them) from production which eradicated it. During the years of heavy Chinese control and regulation of drugs with immediate punishment of death, drugs were also barely a thing as a percentage of the population. That is not the case these days in China in the sense that it is no longer as hard lined, but the percentage of drug trafficking is still low compared to those of other countries.

Pretty much, don't half ass things is how you get schiit done. If it cries like a baby, then you treat it like a baby. If it trafficks like a thug and carries AKs to frigthen your towns. You run that down with the hardest level of power you got. Because it's your town. Brazil got this almost right during its hard military years. It however wasn't a full effort due to the huge level of corruption in the govt and prevention of full military use of force.

  HK Education Bureau.... What.

Yeah, the student suicide situation in HK is pretty bad, like 20-something students committed suicide last year or something.
