Thanks.  The cable via Amazon you reference looks like a great place for me to start with balanced cables.

I have that cable for my HD800 headphones.
I think you could use it to beat a snake, and then continue using it to play music afterward. Basically, the sleeve is durable. And I don't have any issues with the sound either. It's a great value!

I’m looking for recommendations for balanced headphone cables; that is, should I switch to them, and which brands are bang-for-the-buck good?

Currently, I have HD650 headphones (OEM cables) connected to a 10ft Cardas extension cable.  Now, that I’ve ordered a LC, I’ve become very much aware of the people saying the only way to listen to music is via a balanced connection.  Others have said XLR cables were developed for long runs, not for an improvement in sound quality.  My DAC is not balanced, so is it really important to switch to balanced cables for output to my ‘phones?  And, what about a balanced extension cable ( I never see them for sale), should you not use one?  Or, should I just stick with what I have.  Your input is greatly appreciated.

You'll want to use the Liquid Carbon with balanced headphone cables because it's designed as a balanced amp and will sound much better.  I made a balanced cable for my HD650 specifically to test it with the Liquid Carbon and it was a notable improvement.  In general, you can't say balanced is always better than SE or vice versa.  It's simply about how the equipment is designed.

As for a good cheap cable, the ZY that was mentioned above is probably what I'd get if I weren't making my own.

Thanks.  It definitely sounds like the way to go with the Liquid Carbon.  Now, I wish it was coming sooner than expected.  Still a long way to go until delivery.

The first run was 500 units.

Any idea about the numbers on the second run.

Just curious.

Am looking for balanced cables for my HD 800s. Will these cables work with those phones, too?

Yes they will. Under connector option, simply select 'Sennheiser (HD800/HD800S)'

There's two available right now, and I believe another is coming up for sale. I just sold mine within a day and generally they don't last too long in the classifieds.
