This is a promising review. More of a “first impressions” piece than a full review but it’s good that no obvious trouble areas were pointed out. That housing does look large, but my ears are large so I doubt it’ll be a problem for me. I blind bought them and they should be here next week…

I have a pair. It appears I’m the only one so far.

More impressions:

They look a lot larger than they wear. The main bulk is in the height, not the width and they’re very lightweight so they’re plenty comfortable to wear over extended periods.

The cable that comes with them is passable. It’s a four core with black and gold nylon binding. It’s a little stiff but it isn’t prone to tangle. I’m swapping it out for a better one none the less.

They come with a bunch of tips but I swapped out to Sedna tips which fit my ears better than any of the included options.

On the sound:

It’s taken my ears a while to get used to them. They’re pretty analytical sounding IEMs. At least to my ear. They’re very low distortion as you’d imagine and the superb bass/sub-bass presence is the highlight for me. They have very rich and extended lows that are excellently tuned to he powerful when the song calls for it and subtle when it doesn’t.

The mids are highly defined and exhibit really good separation. They’re detailed but, as with the bass, not in your face.

The high end frequencies at and above about 5k are VERY sparkling and bright. So much so that they can be a tad cutting over longer listening sessions. I applied just a *touch* of EQ to the high frequencies and that tamed the whole sound a lot.

The soundstage is interesting. Sometimes it seems pretty small and others it’s very expansive. This effect seems to be dependent on the song, but I’m not sure exactly what quality of a recording makes it happen. Regardless, as with the other elements of the sound it’s restrained when it should be and expands to suit sounds that have that kind of open presence.

Looking at the physical design it appears to me that the vertical size of the enclosure is all determined by the funnel shaped sound path. It’s fairly long and I think that’s where the main tuning is happening.

Overall I’m VERY satisfied with them. They have a curve that sounds very much like the gen 1 Andromeda to my ear only with enhanced bass and tighter highs. Of all my phones I’d say the closest comparison in terms of the shape of the sound is the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro but with a purer and more powerful bass spectrum.

As always, this is purely subjective, so I’m very interested in hearing how other people like or dislike them.

Thanks a lot, love your extensive comment 🙌😁 naver tried planar so I'm a bit tempted. Listening mostly to extreme metal music so need something that can handle very busy tracks 🔥🔥🔥 will maybe wait for more impressions by others 😀

Yeah, I’d hang tight until we hear from more experienced reviewers. I think the bass is probably tight enough to handle extreme metal, but that’s not my personal thing. I’ve listened to some stoner rock, some 80s metal and a lot of contemporary-ish bands like Fu Manchu, Wo Fat, High on Fire, Karma to Burn and so forth. They sound great with all of those.

Thanks a lot for the review! If you had the time, would you be able to listen to Herald of the Change (especially 0:55-2:35) and Ripples in the Sand (basically the entire thing) from Dune and give us your impressions? I'm looking for that cinema kind of feel - soundstage and bass rumble (if you want to EQ it for more bass that's great since I'm gonna be EQing it as well for sure).
Do you have any "popular" sets to compare the Muse to? Like Timeless/Shuoer S12 or Moondrop Blessing 2 / Variations?

Sure! I’ll give those a listen today. For reference, I’ve listened to the Tron Legacy score a bunch of times and it sounds incredible through these. Super expansive.

My current lineup is the CA Andromeda (v1), the CA Jupiter, the Moondrop Aria, the Etymotic ER4XR and HiBy’s Crystal 6 (which came with my R6 2020 DAP.) On the cans side I have a set of Senn HD650s, a Beyer DT990 Pro, a Senn 598 and a Senn 598CS

Thanks a lot, will gladly hear your impressions :) I know it might be far fetched but let's compare against the best - how would you compare the stage of Andromeda to Muse? Sorry for asking that many questions but then again, you are basically the only person that has this set at the moment

No problem.

The Muse Power has a larger sound stage. Larger and more defined. It isn’t super expansive like an open back over-ear, but for an IEM it seems pretty impressive. I think I said in another thread that the sound is very Android-like with a somewhat similar curve but with tighter and deeper bass/crisper high end. I’d say the MP lies somehere between the Andromeda and the DT990 Pro (even though that’s not a very fair comparison given that the 990 is an open back-over ear.)

I can see why you chose this track. Thunderous low end. It sounds really good. It digs down deep and remains very musical. There’s maybe just a bit of graininess to the upper bass, but that may be the instruments themselves. Hard to tell. Meanwhile, the booming bass never overwhelms that subtle high wandering note above it. I’d say it sounds tight, fast and controlled. The bass has a nice smooth decay and the whole thing is quite musical overall. Without EQ there’s plenty of weight and rumble. I can’t imagine adding more. I’m on Bene Gesserit now and it’s a nice contrast. The soft whispers are very crisp and clear while the rumbling bass flows below.

I like it! I should have downloaded this score earlier.

EDIT: the track Leaving Calaban has a very large and lush soundstage.
