100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Lifelike, sub-bass, detail, soundstage and most importantly imaging, perfect treble
Cons: not huge-sounding but incredibly spacious
This headphone is truly an amazing experience. I dont think Ive ever heard one that sounds this well rounded. I thought a headphone like this couldnt exist before I found it. It didnt, perhaps in the really high end range. The closest least expensive ones are the more expensive MrSpeakers models, and even they lack in some aspects compared to this can.

I would highly suggest this headphone to anyone. Be it newcomers or experienced veterans, this headphone will satisfy everyone.

I am coming from a Hifiman HE400i. I've had both the older and newer version, the older being really nice and the newer unbearable. There is one thing though that I sort of miss on that one. Its that the sounds that the Hifiman could produce were huge. A man speaking really felt like a huge guy standing next to you talking into your ears, and however disturbing that sounds, it was great. Music was a part of the space you were and scaled to it too. In this aspect the Aeons are different, and I can not say they are worse. The sounds it produces do sound smaller compared to the Hifiman, but it compensates with giving them a space, location shape and size of their own. Each different from one another. Whereas the Hifiman filled everything with sound at all times, the Aeons create a space in your head, quite a large one at that, large enough to achieve everything that is possible with placing sounds in space and fills it with an object or almost entity like music. Instrument separation is just amazing. Imaging is stellar, 3 dimensional. This allows reverb to sound infinitely better, believeable. This space is where the cans perform. It is fully in control of it and what happens in there. Texture is another aspect the Aeons are great at. Each sound vibrates and feels realistic, you can feel the air pressure and that amazing feeling of being in front of an instrument. being able to react to and represent correctly the very slightest of changes in position and this level of resolution combined with how dynamic and fast the cans sound can turn any good recording into a live performance-like experience.

A performance in the confined space of the Aeons. A space where nothing bothers you and everything is as it should be. The very best. Noise doesnt get through to you and not even a hint of tonal imbalance or dips/peaks will disturb your experience.

This is the world this headphone creates. I could never imagine a headphone at this price range could present a sound like this all the way from the depths of sub-bass, extending ever ceasingly to the point where the barrier becomes the human ear being unable to hear frequencies so low, instead of the cans not extending far enough and dropping off too soon, robbing you of this sweet sensation of a primordial rumble taking over you, to the highest of treble frequencies. Crystalline sparkling chimes or fierce sharp noises, they all sound perfect. Nothing overpowers anything. All sounds are equal and live in a perfect symbiosis and when these two work together and the mid range joins, bringing with it perfect resolution, sweetly textured powerful vocals and strings brimming with life, existing inside your head, or any instrument you could imagine, each as if it was the real thing playing for your soul, then you've found your destination. Your (or at least mine for sure) endgame.

Lets return to reality a bit. If you didnt notice already, I am deeply in love with the MrSpeakers Aeon flows. I feel like and believe that this is probably the best one you can get before shelling out on something many many times its price. It does everything perfectly. I have arrived. This is the one I will be using for the years to come. I didnt tell you the more physical aspects yet, and honestly, I need not. You wont have any problems with packaging or the cable or the earpads or the overall build of the cans. They are as good as a headphone can get. They are incredibly light, small, beautiful and feature a genius design.

These are an amazing experience to hold and behold. You must listen to these. And then maybe buy them. Probably. Certainly.

Source: Audio GD R2R-11, wich I think contributes greatly to this lifelike sound, it being a multibit DAC.
Music: Everything. From FLAC to Youtube, from electronic through metal and jazz to orchestral. All of it.

Verdict: This is the most perfect universal headphone. Its incredible for everything. Bass to kill for, treble to be amazed by and mids to... well, it is just flawless. Check it out, whatever your preference, even if it is open cans. You wont regret it.

It's been Almos and I'm out. Thanks for reading and happy listening to all of you out there.

Is this review of yours for the aeon flow open, or the closed variant? Thanks!

So, I love my Alpha Primes, but have been looking at getting a new semi-hi-end closed back. Finally got to demo this (against LCD-2 CB and Focal ) and was incredibly disappointed. Sounded muddy and weak compared to the other two. Now going back to these reviews I'm wondering if maybe I was listening to a lemon.

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Isolation, accessories, comfort, okay sound quality
Cons: Bass, too bright sound, fatiguing at loud volumes
Disclaimer: I use the earphone without an AMP, and the point of reference is a HiFiMAN HE-400i, i know they are not nearly similar, but they produce sound (only similarity) and I don't have another earphone (or headphone) in this category to compare it to. One more thing: I am a headphone guy, the only reason for me having an earphone is the need of on the go and away from home music listening sessions due to increasing addiction.

So, in June, as the summer begun, I knew I was going to be away from home a lot, and won't be able to take with me or use in all cases my HiFiMAN HE-400i, I had to buy an earphone. In my opinion, earphones are the most convenient for portable use because of their versatility. You can use them in a lot of ways and situations when headphones would be too big or uncomfortable (for example: when running). I chose this because of it's form factor and style, the amount of included earpieces, and the way it's worn, which makes it sit very safely in your ear (earphones slipping out was a big problem for me). After that, I started to look for used ones, to get the most out of my money. After a few days, I found a guy selling this barely used SE 315 for half price (purchase price was 107$), it was a no-brainer for me, I bought it. Now, that you heard the backstory, let's get to the review.

First of all, the sound signature: bright. For me, very bright, which has it's certain pros and cons (probably more cons than pros) that I'll talk about later on.

The Bass: It's very odd, for me. The fact that the earphone is bright, should make you assume that it doesn't have outstanding bass. Well, this is correct, but the bass is rather just odd, than bad. This is because it delivers pretty nice, it's tight and has a satisfying humph. Until a certain point, because the extension and depth isn't very outstanding, although, it's quite difficult to find truly good, neutral/warm/balanced sounding earphones in this price range that have good bass and mids/treble at the same time. Also, the upper bass loses it's power and gets a bit quieter as well as becoming rather hear-able instead of feel-able, that is, unnatural, because of this, I feel like the mids and bass are a bit separated, not merging properly, and this can be disturbing. Moreover: the bass doesn't give a nice, enjoyable body, or warmth to the music. It's just there, lying around on the side, alone, with his own little "territory" separated from all other sound. This might be the biggest complaint I have according to sound quality.
The Mids: I am in trouble when talking about mids, because in my opinion, this range is the most difficult to describe without having a respectable amount of experience with different headphones, for example: I've never listened to a Grado, or other mid kings yet :frowning2: But, as far as I can tell: little bit messy (especially on lower end, not merging with the bass). It's not nearly bad, it's just might not be as good as the other ones, it's neither recessed, nor raised, seems to be on point. Different layers of sound cannot be differentiated as easily though, mostly due to the nature of earphones, and lack of multiple drivers, the slightest details in that 5th layer won't catch your attention that easily or take control of you, this earphone has only one driver each side and that's just incapable of recreating a sound this complex and diverse. It isn't as good as a headphone with the same cost, but then again, it's "only" my earphone, and I am satisfied with it.
The Treble: It's nice, pretty, sparkly, though sounds aren't pronounced enough, for me. Treble should be the fastest, most responsive, and very strong, distinct, while being as accurate as possible. A lot of treble sounds, for example a cymbal should be a very edgy, very fast and aggressive starting and insanely quickly ending sound, to a degree that when it's over, you start to think about if the sound was really there in the first place. Just come and go like a lightning, by the time you'd realize it's there, it isn't anymore. It lacks a bit of that, though this is in fact a quality of pricier sound equipment (like the HiFiMAN HE 400i).

Other sound attributes: the soundstage is better than what i expected, which makes me happy, because of how important it is to me, you don't feel like the source of the sound is literally in you ear, you can feel it moving in space, coming from different directions, changing constantly with different layers of sound, sometimes you even move your eyes involuntarily to look where the sound is coming from. This is something that not every earphone is capable of delivering, and gets a lot better with more expensive ones. Now, one more thing that might make you reconsider buying an earphone over a headphone is that the sound is not very fluid, you don't feel very immersed with the sound (more on this in previous parts), there isn't enough body and detail to the sound to be able to fully merge the layers together (bass and mids for example) which would achieve a constant flow of sound, without it, it doesn't you suck in to take hold of you to only let go after the track ended and you start to wake up from delirium, it's just not good enough, although, again, better headphones in this price range might be capable of it.

The miscellaneous: The eartips are wonderful and you get a lot of them, so that you will surely find the one that fits your ears best and achieves the best possible isolation. The cable is very very good, it's a normal plastic cable but there is just no problem with it whatsoever, it's replaceable as well. Big thumbs up! You'll also get a nice soft-cover case/pouch, to keep it tidy and together in a compact space, when you take it away and don't want a cluster of cable in your pocket. Comfort-wise the earphone is very good, even outstanding... as soon as you get used to it, because you'll have troubles with correct insertion, and placement in the first few weeks, which can cause pain in your ear, to a degree that it could even discourage you from using it in the future (almost happened to me), even though it's just a beginners lack of experience in correct insertion. This isn't the earphone you crank up the volume with and enjoy music even more, because you will hurt yourself that way, better sound equipment just don't get fatiguing with increasing volume, because of their sound which you rather feel instead of hear, and feelings don't really hurt us physically. And one more thing: take your time and try ALL the included eartips, because finding the right one is crucial for having optimal isolation, comfort, and a non-slippy experience.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the Shure SE 315, it does what I wanted it to do, serves me well in all the situations my beloved headphones can't, and in spite of the worse audio-quality, I enjoy listening to it, some tracks can even sound better with the emphasis on the main melody. You probably won't be using this as your daily driver, either because you are a headphone guy (or speaker or earspeaker, or whatever else) or you really are an earphone-guy and you're using a better one. And while there might even be a better choice for this price, I think this is still a pretty strong competitor for someone who wants a really versatile earphone for activities.

Enjoy your music!

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Nice bass, detailed sound, very good for rock, nice (removable!) cable, punchy bass and highs hitting at the same time
Cons: The bass disappears when going very deep, doesn't stay in my ears with either of the ear cups > sound gets fatiguing and bass totally disappears
So, I've had the chance to try the pair my uncle owns, both in noisy (busy streets of Vienna) and silent environment.

You probably should take this with a grain of salt as I can only compare this to my good old HiFiMAN HE-400i, which is basically a totally different world.

Let's get to it, shall we.

Thoughts about the device overall: It looks pretty nice, has a good little bass controller, however i've found the bass good enough on the lowest setting too, the cable is very good in my opinion, it's very lightweight so it doesn't pull you down and it's thin! > easy to hide, However what i've found the most disturbing out of anything, and don't get me wrong, this is quite important!, it just slips out of my ears no matter how i put them in or with which ear cup, and this sadly makes the bass go away, and the treble to take over and occasionally destroy your ears.

Sound quality: After using an ortho headphone for a good time now, i've found it's sound very interesting and very different in a lot of ways, not all of them being good. The two main difference for my ears is that when listening, I couldn't differentiate quite as much the overall levels of the music, the different layers, and also i couldn't therefore hear the smallest details, which in my opinion are one of the if not the most important things in music. For the good part, I really really liked when there was a melody playing in the treble and the bass, that fine strong bass that this IE can produce, came to it and they pounded my ears at the same time, it was very satisfying and cathartic. Though it hasn't happened quite as often as I would've liked it to, as I've had to keep pushing it in sometimes even twice in a track to avoid ear-bleeding treble. One more thing i've noticed in a few tracks, is that the quieter sound layers sometimes tried to merge into a louder one, they started to copy the main melody and change it's sound more similar to it, so that the main melody didn't change but the quiet one started to sound more like the main one, even if the quieter was just a one sound rhythm. Never experienced such a thing.

Overall, if you are someone whose ears are capable of receiving IE's, and you like bass (seriously it has huge bass even on the lowest setting!!!), and you are not that kind of person (like me) that is listening to music just to hear those finest quietest details, then go for this, seriously it's amazing and a lot of fun to listen to!

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Quality Bass, timbre, lifelike sound, neutral but very enjoyable, comfort,
Cons: The stock cable, treble isn't outstanding, not the most engaging
Disclaimer: I am using it out of my PC, I don't have an amp with it yet and I will be modding these fairly soon, which should improve the sound, so I will update this review when I get there.

Initial impressions
Before break-in, they had much less bass, other sound aspects didn't change very much though. The build quality is nothing special, it is alright I guess, has some metal and some plastic in it, not too bad, but they are not for throwing around, and I am concerned about the longevity of the moving parts such as the adjustments in the headband. The cable, in my opinion is very bad, but not from an audio standpoint, don't worry about that, no microphonics, it does what it's ought to, but the sleeving is poor quality, and I really don't like the right angled 3.5mm jack. The headphone is very comfortable though. I did have some initial fatigue because of it pushing my glasses, but I think it bent it so now it is flush with my head, and also, it has some very minor pressure, which doesn't bother me having come from terrible gaming headsets and it can be loosened if it hurts you. So no problems with comfort personally.

Sound

Bass: These headphones are considered warm, and I have to agree with that, I think these have very nice extension, and power, but when very low, it loses some control and a bit of impact in my opinion, also, it can get a bit faded or hazy, still very good though, when getting closer to the mids, it gets really sweet, with a lot of power and kick, and is very present. Almost perfect. If only it had a tiny bit faster attack.

Mids: I'm in trouble with describing mids, as I don't have a lot of experience in this department, but I can say that it is, not overly, but realistic, a little bit laid back, which is not for my liking, and higher up it loses some presence, as if there were layers of sound, and mids would get back, a layer further from you. What I really like though, and this is not necessarily only the mids, but I would say mostly, is the timbre! These headphones make percussion and anything that is made of wood sound so real, vibrant. Bass is good when you can feel it, not hear it, but you don't really think that mids could be felt too, until you listen to this headphone, which just reproduces them just the way they are supposed to sound. Vibrant, woody, hollow, you can almost see the guy hitting given instrument, or blowing down it.

Treble: In my opinion, this might be the only department that these cans are lacking for me, it is certainly good, and nice sounding, even the extension is ok, but the way it sounds is just not for me. It is not quite as sharp, attack-y, fast, and most importantly up-front, engaging, and forward as I would like it to be. Still gets very close to it though!

Other attributes: The soundstage is fairly large, nothing crazy here, but it is involving, and does everything it should to make you forget about it, and satisfy you.

Update: (20.03.2017) First impressions after removing the mesh. Soundstage opened up, imaging became more detailed, treble raised, the sound got more of a crunchy or crispy quality, and last but not least, probably because of these improvements, micro-details emerged. Also, a darkness, or veiled quality is relieved.

Thanks for posting your impression, and noting the physical problem with the cable. For me, a cable is a cable, so I can overlook it easily. I agree with the sound too- it's just fantastic.  I hope you continue to enjoy them.

A cool, informative review, although I did use my set of cans on the go. However I did not like the cable and if Ever get a pair to keep, I will invest on a long, custom cable.
