Hisoundaudio Rocoo Review
Yup, shuffle doesn't turn off. My grouse is that even though it's in shuffle, it'll play some random song and then go to song #1-#2-#3. I have tried using the other power-off method, but then it tends to get bumped on in my bag and then run down the battery. I'm only using the internal...- blippster

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
The 17EW8s showed up, so popped them in to the amp. Didn't switch the bias resistor though for lack of time. Initial impressions are that they are a definite improvement over the 12AU7s previously in there , although those were generics just labeled '12AU7 China'. Now those sound at least a...- blippster

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Thank you tomb. Your SSMH site was very useful when deciding how to construct it, and the suggested heatsinks were nice big ones that didn't look ugly.. Quote: Originally Posted by the_equalizer Question: if the on/off switch is in the back of the unit, what does that red-tipped...- blippster

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Finished a 12AU7 version last week in a recycled Hammond case, after missing the old 19J6 version I built and sold enough to give this a second spin. 12AU7s are a lot more widely available, so I won't have to ditch this amp for a fear of lack of tubes again. Had a couple of failed attempts...- blippster

The GrubDAC
Not sure if this was mentioned before, but perhaps you could modify the output vias to be slightly larger, to accommodate around 22 gauge wire? I've completed my three already, but for at least one had to trim the wires I was using as they were too thick to fit in.- blippster

Bravo Audio - funny looking little tube amps
My Bravo arrived today, even smaller than I had expected. I managed to snag mine at a better than average price, so I can't say I have to many complaints. I'm currently running it off a y1 DAC for source. Sonically I think it's decent, no giant-killer but a pleasant enough sound. From memory...- blippster

The GrubDAC
Just a short update - the second Grub is up and running. I still think the PCM chip was the main problem, but reflowing that, the regulator and a few other iffy joints seems to have cleared it up. Test points would be good, yes. Maybe 5V/GND pads on the side opposite the USB jack could be...- blippster

The GrubDAC
I've completed one, with another that has a problem somewhere - I suspect it has to do with the PCM2707 soldering as there's no USB detection. The working one is mated with a Carrie, and sounds pretty good except a slightly harsh top-end with the Shure 840s. Design-wise, not much to add...- blippster

I'll probably consider this to go with the Carries too, since it eliminates the DAC output caps. Here's to hoping pics will be up soon..- blippster
