Rate The Last Movie You Watched
Your Highness - 4/10 There were two reasons I wanted to see this film: The trailer had offered the potential of hilarity; Zooey Deschanel. The movie failed on the former, and although the film succeeded in the latter, the latter let me down, slightly. I think this type of film doesn't...- KevDo

Motorcycle-Fi
I used to leave the house early Saturday mornings about 8am and not get back home until 2am Sunday morning. Done that almost every weekend. I covered anywhere between 500-700 miles usually and once 900 miles. Hanging off the bike was the only way to beat the ache (GSXR600K1). Reading the...- KevDo

Do you guys get lost into the music?
I can get lost in the music but most often I get lost in thoughts that are emotionally backed up by the music. I contemplate too often. I wonder too often. I think too much about too little too often. For me, the music is usually a backing track to these thoughts. Being lost in music helps...- KevDo

Kindle let down......or not :P
Loving my Sony PRS650, especially now that I've put on PRS+ firmware which gave me a few features that it initially lacked. I've read more books than I ever have. In fact, I've changed my living-room around a little so that I have a sofa at the bay window to read at. Plus point is that my...- KevDo

Testing Balanced XLR output
I tried listening again with the cables swapped at the amp end and it sounded like the right one was quieter. Anyway... I ran a few different test tones through the DAC and observed the output of each set of pins on the left & right channels. Both channels were identical. Checked the...- KevDo

Testing Balanced XLR output
Thanks for the quick reply. I do have good quality calibrated multimeters and digital and analogue scopes, function generators etc so any test method would suffice - whichever was more informative as to the problem. I'll try you're method and see if there's much/any difference in...- KevDo

Testing Balanced XLR output
Just a quick question as to how I can test my balanced XLR outputs on my Cambridge DAC. The problem is that one of the channels must be slightly louder (or the other quieter) resulting in an off-balanced centre. I'm unsure if it's the input of my amp or the output of the DAC. I'm...- KevDo

What's On Your Mind?
CRE(M)ATION The difference between life (creation) and death (cremation) is the letter "M". Murder, Massacre, Manslaughter. Indirectly: Malice, Madness, Malevolence, and Man. I just like playing with words.- KevDo

how many of you guys cook???
Well I'm really no cook, chef nor baker but I certainly wasn't one of these kids that couldn't make themselves anything if it didn't come with microwave instructions. Anyway... decided to try my hand at baking and making my own sauces recently. I've found that being able to do the basics...- KevDo

What book are you reading right now?
Just finished Kathy Reichs "Fatal Voyage", I like her novels, I learn a lot from them as she includes a lot of "real" information on secret societies, cults, etc and also, of course, the forensic anthropology stuff. Anyway, probably read this next before going on to another Reichs novel:- KevDo

Movies with stereo gear in them.
Damn you! You've got me thinking of a film with a a load of McIntosh gear and I'm sure was a high-end turntable. It featured quite well in the film, too, not just something in the background. Grrr, can't think of it now! It'll come. All I remember from the film is: An older...- KevDo

My First Car!
Pretty much my first car (not my actual car but as close as) Had two more after that. The last one I dropped a 2.0 litre engine in and then a T25 turbo, stripped it out, crappy tyres - the fun I had.- KevDo

It's about the best bet here in the UK. I wouldn't buy a Kindle due to the proprietary books and it doesn't easily support epubs. The new Nook looks good especially for the price but they don't sell them here in the UK and even if they were available, the bookstore wouldn't work. The Kobo...- KevDo

What's On Your Mind?
Jackie sure has a lot on his mind. On my mind: how awesome Joanna Newsom is. Listening to 'Have One on Me' - Not listened to it in ages. From the first note, she just takes you away into a familiar but alien childhood past - somewhere unknown to the conscious mind but deep rooted in the...- KevDo
