    Schiit Midgard - Impressions Thread

I didn't think it's that big of a deal to respond separately, and I would hardly call it spam mail. I actually would think it is rude to respond to multiple people in the same message.

    Schiit Midgard - Impressions Thread

I don't understand how the SA-1 measured well, because the sound was highly veiled to me, so I sold mine shortly after purchase. I didn't make the jumper mods because most reviewers said the difference was minor, but what I was hearing was a major veil or haze over the music.

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

I also have the Sennheiser 660S and after considering for a long time of adding a subwoofer, I finally tried it and the results are amazing. I am using the SVS 3000 Micro, which is quite small but powerful with two drivers (both active, not passive). The SVS app that runs on iOS or Android...

Willsenton R300 single ended 300B integrated

According to the Amazon listing, here are the specs on the headphone output: "Headphone output for impedance: 8 ohms-32 ohms" Usually, higher impedance headphones will have a lot less available power from an amp than 32 ohm headphones, but there may be other issues on this particular amp...

    Schiit Modi Multibit 2 DAC

It's not pale enough. I have other equipment in the same cabinet with LED's and they are all much dimmer. It's probably OK for use next to a computer in a brightly lit office, but not in a dimly lit listening or video viewing room.

    Schiit Modi Multibit 2 DAC

I recently purchased the Modi Multibit 2, and it works fine, but the Source Selector LED is way too bright, especially in a dimly lit room. I had to put some black electrical tape over it. Obviously, it depends on where one has it installed, but in my installation the face of the unit (and LED)...

Why musicians buy different gears than most audiophiles

I suspect that a fair number of those on the list do final assembly (or cable termination) in the US, but many of the parts are made in China, especially speaker cabinets and cables (un-terminated raw cable). That might also include some speaker drivers in certain cases.

Just dont understand. How can they believe an Ethernet cable can improve sound?

I am not sure I understand what kind of audio signals you are talking about. Obviously, there are differences in cables meant for line level, speaker level, or for digital audio (not using TCP/IP, but something like digital over Coax). Each of these cables have different impedance properties to...

Just dont understand. How can they believe an Ethernet cable can improve sound?

Maybe "we" don't need blind listening tests, but for those who insist that Ethernet cables can carry noise (in addition to carrying a digital signal) from one component to another that is not already being filtered out by the receiving component, they are not going to accept "measurements" and...

Just dont understand. How can they believe an Ethernet cable can improve sound?

There are definitely banana plugs that are better than others. Locking banana plugs are preferred as the tension of a regular banana plug loosens up over time. Obviously, gold platted copper is better than materials used on some cheap plugs. Gold does not corrode, like almost all other metals.

Just dont understand. How can they believe an Ethernet cable can improve sound?

I am OK with that, but those people claim that there exist certain audio effects that cannot be measured (or at least no test has been devised yet to measure it). They say that a subjective evaluation is the only way to hear the difference. So it seems easier to me to explain to them that a...

Just dont understand. How can they believe an Ethernet cable can improve sound?

Yes, I obviously meant that they don't have knowledge of how TCP/IP over Ethernet works. Everyone has some knowledge or belief, even if it may not be accurate. But the problem is that many of these advocates of audiophile Ethernet cables claim there is some dirty signal or noise outside of the...

Just dont understand. How can they believe an Ethernet cable can improve sound?

I obviously don't agree with your analysis. For one thing, I tried to explain that the Ethernet cable "problem" is not a lack of critical analysis, nor it is the same kind irrationality given to support of politicians that some don't agree with. The vast majority of audiophiles don't understand...
