Have tried both bass switch on and off. Reverted to bass switch on for IMO warmer and fuller sound and versatility. For some genres e.g. female vocals, classical music and e-guitar I so far prefer the bass switch off, but then I nudge the volume up slightly.

I have the H50 and the Yanyin Moonlight. The H50 is darker with a bit more bass emphasis. The Moonlight is brighter and neutral with better detail. Fun on the go vs. audiophile at home. Clearly the Moonlight is a tecnically better set and the are tuning wise complementary sets.

I use the Yanyin Moonlight with the Shanling M7. There is no problem at all. In fact they sound very good together. Have tried both balanced and single ended and they both work perfectly fine. Stop worrying and enjoy the music.
