Great review. For comparison I have SE535 and SE846 and also Weston W60, IMO, none of these 3 headphones has good bass, it is typical BA “problem”, M9 is the only BA headphone which has the bass from a DD IMO, although the sub bass region is still lacking. In the SE846 thread, many say that...

Really forward your comparison, I respect any brand who can make great headphones, but there are many just want to make money and they want to make you believe the 12 or 16 BA design is superior and worth the super high price tag, the more the better. I still believe a 12BA design can offer good...

    Sony IER-M9 impressions thread

I had an argument the other day with someone who promotes a 12 BA per side monitor(more than $3K) and trashed M9 in comparison. I auditioned a very expensive pair of 12 or 16 BA monitor, and I can say these multiple BA IEM has serious design problem, I can easily hear multiple BA covering same...

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

My only complaint to Xelento, after 2 year of usage, is the driver flex on the left side, I fear eventually it would fail, or, break the LR SQ balance.

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

I did not change cable for Xelento, but I bought an expensive pure silver cable for SE846 several years ago, the cable made the sound inferior, I do believe the cable has a impact to SQ, but not necessarily a good impact. I also bought high quality cable for HE560, but I could not hear any...

I don’t have W30 but have W60, W60 is like plain water with no flavor, bass is weak compare to M9, treble extension is not match to M9, M9 overall has better coherence and much more refined sound. I think M9 is an end game multi BA IEM. I heard much more expensive IEMs, like 12 BA each side...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

I posted before that if I cover up X2 with both hands it sounds much better as a closed back headphone. Now I think because I changed the stock pad to leather pad, the new leather pad bumps up the bass and makes the mid muffled. Note that when removing the old pad, there’s a thin fabrication...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

I had the X2 for long time but only recently spent time with it, IMO the X2 has a bumped up lower mid, recently I connected the X2 directly to my desktop PC, I found the bass has too much quantity. While trying, I accidentally cover up the outer shell (making it a closed back), I found the...

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

The driver flex is that the driver is not entirely fixed in the housing, and can be moved when air pressure is applied to the driver. I don't have this problem in the beginning, after a few days I began noticing this problem. Then I switched to silicon tips for them I can insert without pushing...

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

Congratulations! I love my Xelento also. The only complaint I have is the driver flex on the left side, in the beginning I use the foam tips and they are very tight (for fuller sound of course), but the insert process causes the click sound, I worry that in the long term this would damage the...

I have M9, SE846 and W60 to compare,I prefer M9 the most, the bass is not DD level but totally adequate, I can enjoy techno and rock music with M9. The vocals on M9 is silky smooth, try it more and you will find out.
