Totally agree with you on the soundstage observation. That had been the only thing bugging me since i first bought the 846. I wonder if that is the nature of IEM. I am hesitant to get another expensive IEM just to find out that all IEM has limited soundstage.

Maybe i should post this on my Airpods Max thread on the mobile board. But i think that one of the advantages of the Max is Apple Care+. You can really use it without damaging it. This one seems to be able to withstanding colder temperature than the Airpods Pro too.

Comfortable.... no... B&O H95 is more comfortable but they are both expensive. And both are hard to wear in winter though with hat and stuff

The problem with the current crop of reviews is that they consider Sony and Bose high end. Rarely anything you can buy from your local Bestbuy is considered Highend. These days only Sony OLED TV is truly high end in Bestbuy.

Don't worry, the surround sound feature only works on iphone and ipad. You are not missing anything by giving the max a pass. Totally agreed. Same feeling here. The quality of B&O h95 is poor at it's price. Can't wait to hear the Max. Good that it's not priced too high that touches the IEM...

Personally, not shocked. Just have different expectation at different price point. I expects Apple to punch above it's weight at each price point. So i expect this to rival the headphones in the 6-8 hundred dollars range. Probably can't touch Hifiman Ananda though.

You have to admire the Apple Care + though. you can trash it and just replace it for just $39 twice. Plus you can find an Apple store in all major cities now. Versus B&O which closed down even the Toronto store. Getting B&O doesn't get much confidence these days.

I don't know all the discussion with the H6. All i can say is that it brings back memories. It was one of the best upgrade that i ever got. It is probably the best closed back cheaper headphone back in the days.

Perfect timing with the Airpod Max announcement. I just returned the H95 yesterday. This one actually priced at what i think the H95 should be. I won't be able to do Side by side comparison when i get this one next week. But i will use the same site that i found on weekend to test this one...
