Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
you're not alone - i also found the 6XX extremely veiled, almost like a cloth over it. i corroborated my findings with multiple other people as well, so it's definitely just my ears. i haven't tried many others (2 6XX and a 650) so i'm not too sure if it was just minor QC or pad differences.- chocolates

For sale are the limited-edition ATH-MSR7SE closed back headphones. These come from the same family as the MSR7 and MSR7b but have a more balanced sound signature than either of them, along with a completely different driver. The most striking feature about these headphones, though, is the look...- chocolates

For sale are a pair of Andromeda Snow White LE IEMs from Campfire Audio. They are the 2019 Andromeda variant with the original treble sparkle, and are considered a slightly different flavor from the current 2020 lineup. They're very neutral IEMs with some treble sparkle, and have exceptional...- chocolates

Looking for laid-back speakers for a large, square room
hmm, I suppose I'd call the harbeths as laid-back - a little less dynamic, a little weaker attack, but tonally superior to the fyne audio speakers I tried, which overall made it sound better in my opinion. nothing too harsh and the bass wasn't muddy or boomy, which was great unfortunate the... -
Looking for laid-back speakers for a large, square room
hi all, hopefully it's all good to post this in this forum. I'm looking for speaker recommendations under $5k (I can stretch but I'd actually much prefer the $3k-4k range) my electronics are: Magnavox CDB650 Schiit Bifrost (for streaming or direct from a computer) Accuphase C265 pre Accuphase...- chocolates

curious if there's any interest in a pair of SR-404LE, SR-L NB, or SR-Sigma NB in here - would prefer to sell to head-fiers who frequent this thread first before listing it on ebay and other marketplaces decided I'm perfectly happy with my SR-007mk1 and KGSSHV Carbon - chocolates

i'm fairly certain that the parts cost less than the cost of the carbon he's selling, especially at scale - but the parts he's using may not be up to spec with the ones built by other more well-known builders- chocolates

the RK50 is an audible improvement but i don't believe JR amps have them - i think they all use RK27 unless otherwise specified just curious but are there any buyers still interested in STAX headphones? i've got a couple lambdas i do not use (due to sticking with my SR-007) but can't seem to...- chocolates

i am really impressed with the bass on the SR-404LE, Sigma NB, and SR-007mk1 - wonder why it's notably better on these models? especially the sigma, since it shares a driver with the original SR-L- chocolates

Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
650 and 600 are enough for my family's untrained ears to hear the difference without any input from me whatsoever, it's always confused me somewhat why people called them essentially the same headphone. i find the 650 too dark to enjoy anything but acoustic / vocal-centric stuff- chocolates

i appreciate both! the tradeoff is worth it in the sense that you get a very different delivery and it's a pretty unique experience among stax cans; would definitely recommend trying one out agreed - i don't think sigmas are all-rounders, but for particularly atmospheric or wide chamber music...- chocolates

sigma staging is unreal - far better than any of the lambdas. i found the transients to be noticeably duller but the tradeoff for the soundstage is worth it in my opinion- chocolates

that might work! but it looks rather thick and hard to apply (on the other hand, fully removable is always a plus) i tried looking around for double-sided adhesive tape but they're all on the thick side (1-2mm thick it seems)- chocolates

New to Head-Fi seek advice for Amp
i wouldnt get audio-gd stuff lmao the engineering is pretty suspect in my opinion just from seeing opened up units / other peoples experiences with them tubes are only really notably noisy when poorly impedance matched; senn 6x0 happen to be high impedance and work very well with tubes- chocolates

New to Head-Fi seek advice for Amp
if you're not nitpicky about sources then the THX 887/789 are perfectly fine in terms of clean amplification and features; but there's a nontrivial number of naysayers who find it to be dull and not very dynamic. up to you which side you believe since the measurements are clean for the price...- chocolates

the SR-sigma+srd-7 about $850, so with the schiit bifrost 2 that's about $1450 the accuphase p-4100 ~$4000, the elekit tu-8200r $700- chocolates
