I found a nice +/-12V +5V transformer I'm using for a project that has some logic circuits and relays. Not the cheapest way but since relays are pretty hungry it was the best way by far.

Always have digital volume controls maxed out! By using the digital volume control you decrease the resolution and dynamics of the signal. The noise, as AdamZuf has mentioned, will be amplified more as well. The more you amplify the signal in the poweramp the more you amplify the noise.

A 300W stepdown transformer can be had for about 400SEK here in sweden from www.kjell.com so it's probably the cheapest route.

ATX Powersupplies all deliver -12V and -5V with enough oomph to drive an amp. Get a common mode choke on the cables supplying your amp to get rid of some of the noise.
