New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Even though the design might be more conducive, is it fair to assume that for simplicity's sake, Yggdrasil won't be getting a remote either? As beautiful as they both are, they're kind of beastly and it would be nice to tuck it away. Especially as I have a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Yggs will...- Audio_newb

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Not to get derailed with the technical nitty-gritty, but is there a benefit to hand-stuffed through-hole in this application? Am I wrong to think that machines are ready to put us all out of a job because they are just better (and cheaper) at this stuff, even in small quantities?- Audio_newb

Schiit Owners Unite
These guys look absolutely beastly and I'm eagerly anticipating them both, especially the DAC. Having said that, and at the risk of angering the gods--Schiit, Norse, and otherwise--I'm going to humbly put in a feature request before the buns go into the oven. Since I'm hoping to plonk...- Audio_newb

NEW - Schiit Asgard 2
Thanks for the info on the LEDs, guys. That is cool. Literally. The design is so clean I guess the bling had to go on the inside. :)- Audio_newb

NEW - Schiit Asgard 2
Had it for a little while now and really enjoying my A2. I'd say equally impressive as a preamp as it is as a headphone amp. As previously stated I don't have much prior headphone amp experience but as both an amp and a preamp I've been impressed by its lower extension, channel separation, and...- Audio_newb

NEW - Schiit Asgard 2
Just got my Asgard 2 and couldn't be happier. This is my first real headphone amp so I'm in no rush to jump in with grandiose claims about its sound. I will however, say that I can't imagine better build quality for its class. It really is quite beautiful and solid as a rock. No transformer...- Audio_newb

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
Don't think any hard info on the statement has come out yet other than stay tuned for a groundbreaking non sigma delta whammie of a DAC. Clearly we are well tuned and eagerly waiting. Here's to hoping for 2x optical. Unfortunately an increasing number of consumer devices only offer hdmi and...- Audio_newb

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
I know Gungnir hasn't even shipped yet, but looking out to the Statement gear I was wondering if there is any chance of getting two optical inputs. For better or worse, optical seems to be the default on a lot of consumer gear, some of which only support audio over hdmi or optical.- Audio_newb

Neck Deep in Schiit: Gungir Balanced DAC and Mjolnir Balanced Amp Announced!
Quote: Now that would be cool and the perfect little desktop setup, although it seems to go against the Schiit motto of less is more. I for one would love a set of binding posts and a switch to go between that and headphone outs. Sometimes you feel like a headphone, and sometimes you...- Audio_newb

Neck Deep in Schiit: Gungir Balanced DAC and Mjolnir Balanced Amp Announced!
Few more questions for Jason on the Mjolnir. 1. Do the balanced pre outs also follow the same rule of not being able to be converted to single ended? Should I worry about amps that have balanced inputs but might not actually have balanced topology all the way through? 2. If I'm...- Audio_newb

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
I'm waiting it out for the statement DAC, but I have to say I hope it doesn't use the same relay system. I understand that the clicking issue is "normal," and was likely a design decision based on getting the best sound quality out of the product, but things like this in the audiophile world...- Audio_newb

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
I can't say for sure if the issues are related, but just a note that it might not be the DAC at all. Not sure if you guys are using Lion, but there seem to be some core audio issues in Lion with usb DACs. I've been using a HRT Streamer II for some time now and was also having some strange...- Audio_newb

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
Don't mean to be down on the Schiit marketing strategy here as all of their products appear beautiful and well thought out, but I'm curious whether anyone here is waiting for the mid-level balanced dac? There seem to be a lot of people (myself included) waiting with bated breath for the...- Audio_newb

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
I too would like to see volume control on the statement model, but I can easily see why they wouldn't. Once you start down that road it's not unreasonable to want at least one analog input and a remote control. That's a substantial amount of added complexity. If they really are attempting to...- Audio_newb

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
Before the intent of my post is buried in the language let me first state that it was not meant to start an argument. They certainly have a right to state their feelings on usb, and considering their wealth of experience I really was just curious to hear what they had to say. Also, I agree...- Audio_newb

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
Looking forward to the new DACs and while I think it's great that usb is a drop in upgradable option, I was a little surprised/ disappointed to see that the Schiit guys were doing some usb trash talking. I certainly understand the argument that spdif was designed for audio while the usb spec...- Audio_newb

Benchmark DAC1 now available with USB
Great thread so far. I think I've seen almost every aspect of the DAC1's design examined, but I don't think I've seen a discussion as to the choice of a volume pot. I'm not for or against, but just wondering as to the choice of what (I assume) is a single volume pot rather than a resistor ladder...- Audio_newb

Benchmark DAC1 now available with USB
Two questions, one for lowmagnet and one for Elias. Firstly, low, I was wondering how your new Benchmark setup compares to your Spitfire rig. Any thoughts would be great as I'm trying to justify the cost of the new Benchmark to myself. Elias, thanks for answering all our questions so far both...- Audio_newb
