ZiShan Z3 Hi-Fi Player Thread
Thanks @maxxkur. Does the Z3 AK4493 also have dual power supply? I use it to drive a Topping NX1S, which is a high impedance. No problems so far, but if it improves the sound quality, I might try it. If you have owned or listened to the AK4493 version, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on...- willyboyaudio

ZiShan Z3 Hi-Fi Player Thread
Hi @maxxkur thank you for sharing the photos of the stock unit, as well as your mods. Would you mind explaining what changes were made and why you made those changes? From the photos at least I can see you replaced the two electrolytic caps with two resistors, and replaced two resistors with 0R...- willyboyaudio

Thanks @brianforever for verifying. They are from a local online marketplace, olx.co.id. He seemed to be a private seller, I tried looking for the ad but it seems they've been sold out. Thanks @furyossa for your input. I agree, that "Picture" column is kinda awkward. Unfortunately GoogleSheets can't have more than one link in a cell, so I've created columns to the right. Hope this is okay. The link is in my signature. Thanks again!!- willyboyaudio

Sony budget earphone discussion thread (MH750, MH755, MH1C, EX300, etc)
Hi Slater, gentlemen, I got a pair of MH750 which was advertised as "buds only" with "cut cable". I had hoped to receive the two buds only, but turns out the cut cable is also included. It's a J-cable with mic. I don't know why they do this, I think they could be factory rejects. I have no way...- willyboyaudio

O-ow. There goes Mama Bery. What can be a fitting name for the 500 Ohm graphene? @furyossa @Themilkman46290 Wow, thanks for this ranking list. Hi, I’ve seen some of you guys use KZ replacement cable, snip the connectors on the buds side, and soldered them. My question is, did the cable retain its “over ear” shape after the plastic sleeving is removed? I want to wear them straight down. I’m thinking to use my “over ear” type C KZ cable...- willyboyaudio

@furyossa @Themilkman46290 So the 600 and 500 have beryllium but the 400 has graphene diaphragm? To combine your comments, what do you say we call the 600 “Papa Bery” and the 500 “Bery”? I leave the 400 for you godfathers to decide LOL- willyboyaudio

May suggest "Eight Pack" for the 130 Ohm? I think that is quite distinctive to that model. Thanks for starting this, @furyossa I agree with the idea and your proposals, may I suggest pronouncing it "Barry"? I feel it sounds nicer, and sounds more like a 'name' What do you think...- willyboyaudio

UPDATE: Sorry I can't stand (that) silver plated cable with the 300 Ohm N52 driver in MX500 housing. As with many things audio, synergy and finding a good combo is important. So, I decided to put a good copper wire, advertised as 160 strand copper (maybe 40 per wire, 160 for...- willyboyaudio

Thanks @furyossa For now I let it burn in some more, and it is improving. I'll keep your advise in case I got the itch to mod it in the future. Could it be the correct "timbre" and the natural mids that make it easy to listen? As I said, in the MX500 housing it reminds me of a single driver...- willyboyaudio

Hi Friends, glad to see everyone still active building stuff and helping each other to get into this dangerous hobby. I bought this 300 Ohm driver, after thinking back and forth, finally decided to pull the trigger. I put a driver from my local seller, it's called "Warm Bass" driver. The blue shell, if I remember correctly the inside is black, so it must be painted. So what new driver are you getting, @robar?- willyboyaudio

Do you think this is the same driver? Similarities: - 64 Ohm - White blob - Red dot - Foam covering the holes - Similar PCB traces - Same pattern on the face, which is slightly different than the pattern on the 19-21 driver, for example. These are salvaged from VE Monk+- willyboyaudio

Sounds good. The Z3 looks and feels nice when stacked together with my NX1s, makes for a great portable combo. I've also learned that it's quite picky when it comes to micro SD card, with less than class 10 cards, it's very buggy and not pleasant to use.- willyboyaudio

Obscure Chinese DAPs
Hi guys, an update after my question, I end up with a Zishan Z3 Pro! Just got it a few days ago. It's so tiny, much smaller than what I imagined after looking at some photos and reviews. Initial impressions are good, and it looks nice stacked to the NX1s. I changed my NX1s to fix it on high gain...- willyboyaudio
