Sony budget earphone discussion thread (MH750, MH755, MH1C, EX300, etc)

Did some digging in this thread and found the bass-reducing mod where you cover the internal vent hole and it pretty much did the trick. No driver transplant surgery needed!

Thats what I was going to suggest. It’s the easiest method IMO.

Glad you got it all sorted.

Hi Slater, gentlemen, I got a pair of MH750 which was advertised as "buds only" with "cut cable". I had hoped to receive the two buds only, but turns out the cut cable is also included. It's a J-cable with mic. I don't know why they do this, I think they could be factory rejects. I have no way of testing, need to recable them immediately.
Type: AG-0501 and date code is 17w43.
Please see the attached pics and let me know if they're genuine. Based on what I've learned in this thread, I believe they are genuine "center vent" MH750. But I thought I'd check with the experts. Thanks guys!

Last week I bought a £1.50 set of MH750s from ebay and a £3.50 set from CEX. Unsurprisingly the ebay ones were fake (sound is truly garbage) and the CEX are genuine (sound great just like my genuine MH755s). Got a refund for the fakes and will use them as practice/trial for MMCX conversion.

I took this photo for someone on reddit but thought I'd add it here as I haven't seen a crisp and clear comparison image of fake vs genuine sets.

That's a super rare mfg 2014 MH750 you have there with a side vent driver mate :)
You should keep the extremely durable cable with awesome microphone, the ones I have even outlasted my Sennheiser cables which were newer

CEX @ South Kensington always had great used electronics, my goto place when I was living in London

could you please share the CE tags for our records

You're right: 2014 week 39. They were brand new and still rolled up with the clear protective plastic on the mic body. Yeah I always intended to keep this pair intact and do a MMCX cable swap on my 755s.

SUper RARE Man :) you can never buy from Ebay, Amazon or AE, most likely some poor sod had to pawn it off to CEX from his in retail pack Xperia phone, was never sold unbundled

I would suggest you keep your CE tag safe and secure as this is the Proof of the Real Holy Grail, the Jewel of the Crown of the Sony MH Series :)

Strange to me is there was not any cable tag/sticker.

Sweet phone you got there :)

The MH755s that came with my Sony SBH24 BT receiver had no tag either. I suppose they've just stopped doing those.

Should I get these to replace my broken originals? Also I have a fake pair (they sound disgusting). U think these will sound better?

And, separate question: is the fake she'll the same as original? I loved my original for WoW sound isolation, if I set in new drivers in my fake she'll, will it also have good isolation? (my current fake drivers aren't even glued in, they just rattle around, so can't check that..) I know that the fake tips are nothing like the originals :'( was wondering if the shells are foulty too

Thanks @brianforever for verifying. They are from a local online marketplace, olx.co.id. He seemed to be a private seller, I tried looking for the ad but it seems they've been sold out. I see you're in Singapore, if you're familiar with a little bit Indonesian, you can browse olx.co.id and search "mh750 copotan" which means "parted out mh750". Some even go as far as mentioning "parted out from Sony XX", such as this one example, although not the exact listing I bought from: Sony mh750 copotan tablet sony z3 compact - Aksesoris HP & Tablet - 808800091 (olx.co.id)
Have fun!
