    Earbuds Round-Up

Well, while I was on a different track last night, looking for a system-wide software crossfeed option, I learned about Equalizer APO. Now I have both crossfeed and custom EQ, which has allowed me to add a huge low-bass boost (plus a small bump around 400 Hz — funny how you notice another issue...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Thanks. Worth ten times the price of the H185? Is there a less expensive (but still worthwhile) way to try out a "Type II" shell?

    Earbuds Round-Up

In both sound and fit, the Monk+ doesn't work well for me. I've been avoiding other "Type I" shells. Somewhere hereabouts I was recommended the Edifier H185 years ago, which fits great for me (I do use stacked full and donut foams) and has better treble extension. I find it a bit light in the...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

Oops! I didn't realize until I went back to the forum section this evening that recommendation requests are supposed to go in a different area. If you guys want me to repost over there, I will. I don't know how familiar you are with current pro audio gear, but a while back Aviom introduced a...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

@golov17! I think you recommended the Edifier H185 which I ended up buying and use almost every day. :) What kind of sound signature does this earbud have? Good call! I'm thinking of using the Elite Core wired body pack or something similar.

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

I'd like to throw out a question for you guys that's a little different from the usual. My church does "contemporary," rock-oriented music, and we're looking at adding a personal monitoring system wherein each musician/singer would be able to control their own mix. Where we currently have small...

    Earbuds Round-Up

After 21 days of (im)patience, I received the Monk Plus! I'm getting a pretty good fit with the rubber rings and (so far) without foams. I'm going to reserve judgement on the sound signature until they've had some time to break in, but I can understand why they're so popular. By the way, I'm...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Oho! Maybe I will try these if the Edifier H185P doesn't suit me. Or even if it does! Looking forward to comparisons (and to getting the H185P and Monk Plus in so I have some points of reference).

    Earbuds Round-Up

And to follow that up, today I ordered a Monk Plus. :)

    Earbuds Round-Up

I found out today that the Edifiers have a single-button remote on the mic (according to their site). That should be sufficient for me. So I've ordered the H185P from Banggood (the cheaper sellers on AliExpress don't have the gray version, which I prefer). Thanks for the help, guys!

    Earbuds Round-Up

Thanks, @golov17. I haven't heard of Meizu in a while! I still have one of their MP3 players from back in the day.... Since these earbuds hadn't been mentioned before, I'm guessing there's some compromise compared to those that have been recommended already. Having the remote might be worth...

    Earbuds Round-Up

@golov17, @jamesbdh, @music4mhell, @ozkan, @Tayyab Pirzada, @vapman: I won't even try to quote you all, but thanks for your comments!   For those who weren't sure about the Sennheiser HD580: in case you're familiar with the HD600, that is a tweaked version of the HD580. That said, it's been a...

Whoops, how did I miss your post?! Thanks! Have you also tried the Edifier H180P which jamesbdh mentioned?

    Earbuds Round-Up

Thanks! I'm an old HD580 fan, so your taste should be similar to mine. Going by the stock earbuds I've used, my ears are probably larger, however.   I found the Edifier earbuds available from High Quality Electronic Products and the Remax earbuds available from Wisen Technology Co. on...

    Earbuds Round-Up

It's great to see how interest in, and availability of, earbuds has increased since the last time I checked in to these parts! I have the RX-1 and Monk+ on my short list to try. Right now, however, I'm looking for inexpensive earbuds with a microphone. Any clear recommendations?

    streaming services recommendations

I've been a Rhapsody user for years, and I've been pretty satisfied. However, I just found out they are, so far, not updating their client for Windows 8 (they're focusing on the website instead), which led me to start looking around a bit. I've decided to try MOG first after reading these...

Quote:   I did some digging and came up with In Ear Matters' Earbuds Roundup and kostalex's Earbud Buyer's Guide. They may be out of date, but they had some useful information, and both pointed me towards Blox. The Blox TM7 looks like a good option if I go to the higher end. Not seeing...

Quote: Aggh, I don't know any of these brands. Or what the right tips might be. I'm not set on having something that sounds the same as the HD580; that's just my reference. I always wanted the Etymotic ER-4, which I know has a different sound.   (Okay, searching tells me E10/E30 is...

Quote:   I have to choose between hearing my surroundings and hearing bass, I take it. Bleh.   I looked at the Yuin earbuds at Headroom's site; the PK1 looks pretty nice (though I have no idea how it compares to the HD580), but it's on up there, price-wise.   Quote: I have...

I'm not new here, but almost might as well be. I'd like to get something new for the office; for years I've been using an HD580 with a Corda Headfive, which sounds just fine, but I'm tired of wearing headphones all the time. It's not as comfortable as it used to be.   I see there are not so...

Official 2008 Black Friday Deals Thread

The Sansa Fuze 8GB is now on eBay for $69.99. If you use the Live.com cashback and the 10% off coupon from eBay, you'll end up paying less than $45—I'm not sure how the discounts combine. I didn't buy yesterday, so I'm even more tempted now.

Amazon also has the Sansa Fuze 4GB in black for $48. The features are the same, right? So it costs $21.99 to get the extra four gigabytes of memory built in, when you could buy a Kingston 4GB MicroSDHC from Buy.com for $8.94. Man, I'm tempted.

Outputting from my EMU 0404 USB through Toslink out

I haven't seen much (anything?) about the digital output from the 0404 USB. You're using it as a USB-to-optical converter? How well does that work?
