Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit

Bifrost sounds bettter, but you will not be disappointed with the Modi.

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit

You're welcome! Mimby is a great dac with options. A cable you like is all it needs. Definitely stick with what you like, but if you want to experiment a little I had good luck with the HiFiBerry HATs. Their Digi+ to Mimby was probably my favorite setup. Super easy (but does add another...

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit

Buy well made (not necessarily expensive) cables and it will sound fine with whichever connection you use. Enjoy!

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Great information about heat @Jason Stoddard and others. Any concerns about noise or interference? I stack a Loki Mini on top of a Modi Multibit and a Sys on top of the Loki (and a Mani on top of the Sys). This stack sounds great. Would it sound better if arranged differently? Would I have...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

You guys are right. Multibit sounds great. But if someone only had $99 to spend on a DAC, they wouldn’t be disappointed with the Modi. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Don’t be too hard on Schiit’s delta-sigma devices. I still have an original Modi that still surprises me with how good it sounds.

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion

I also have the Node 2 and run a Blue Jeans coaxial cable straight out of it into a Modi Multibit. I not sure it sounds any better or worse than the coax out of the Eitr. Both setups sound pretty good.

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion

Thank you for that. I wouldn't say my system is really revealing either (maybe one of these days I'll get it into my signature). It's probably mid-fi at best. But for my budget, it sounds fine. Some have the budget for more and I'm not against them going for the best, I'm just sharing what I...

Schiit sells these. They don't cost much. They work well. I don't know if more expensive cables would work better.

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion

I had a great experience with the Eitr when I was running it into a Mimby. It wan’t so much a sonic difference as it was the fact that it just worked. When the conditions are right, USB sounds better to me. But how often are those conditions right? When using the Eitr, I didn’t worry about...

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit

You will like what you hear. Bluejeans also make good cables for a decent price. I used one of theirs in my Eitr/Mimby setup. Sounded great.

I’ll be looking forward to hearing your impressions too. Would someone who is going to the meet tonight be willing to ask about this?

The Bottle(head)neck website is interesting. If nothing else, the name gave me a good laugh (and I can always use more of those)! Thanks, again.

    Unofficial: Schiit DIY Coaster Amp

Absolutely. If you've ever thought about it or find yourself with the time to, where would you (or anyone else here) direct me (or anyone else), if I was interested in getting into DIY amps. I'm guessing a complete noob would start with something other than an amp. But with what or where...

Thank you all for the wonderful community. Always informative, usually entertaining. Was introduced to Head-Fi through computer audio. Looking forward to learning more from you about getting the best out of it. Hope to help where I can.
