    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

was also interested in cen. grand deluxe but something didn't feel right That something related to them is probably along lines of the product code "GLS". I think everyone's waiting to see what they C-G does with a combo device... And that just maybe where they demonstrate it. I have to check...

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

Yep I got great answers with several questions to Ferrum. You can tell these guys are really on the ball. As a bonus it's pretty easy to heft into your equipment rack... vs a Cen.Grand or Cayin beast.

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

In checking the Cen.Grand DSDAC, there were several references to this Wandla DAC having equivalent sound quality. I'm doing research-- especially via the gurus on this board-- and there's several features I really like: 1) Coming from an Oppo 205, I'm a big fan of the ESS 9038P chipset...and...

Reply to review by 'scottm18' on item 'Matrix Audio X-SABRE 3'

It should be noted that now the Sabre line can also use their lauded streaming app just like the element line (including Qobuz integration)... making this even more of a tempting proposition.

    Schiit Syn Surround Processor Reviews/Impressions

Unfortunately I won't be able to use the subwoofer because I have it tied into my preamp for regular multi-channel through my Oppo 205 (it only has one input and I'm not going to go the split signal "Y" avenue). Luckily I have the now 20 years old but absolutely classic Innovative Audio...

Cambridge Audio CXN (V2) VS.. ????

I wish I could hear this IP but I never felt like I could really consider it because it uses the same internals (DAC/upsampling) of my CA 752 Blu-ray player from a dozen years ago! I think I'm going with an Orchard Audio streamer device. Really impressed with their design.

    LG V60 ThinQ smartphone

My big is problem with the v60 was not the audio tuning, it was the monstrous size of the phone :-). After being used to the significantly smaller V series, it was like carrying around a tablet when I checked it out!

    LG V60 ThinQ smartphone

Where did you read that the V35 is B&O tuned? Because I've had a v30, v35, v40 and v50... So I'm pretty sure the AT&T-based v35 model was B&O tuned. Think of it as all the 6" screen models are B& O. I doubt that redditor has had all those phones. At the time I remember Meridian's page making...

    LG V60 ThinQ smartphone

Bottom line is your v35 has a B&O tuned DAC chip, the v40 and v50 have a Meridian tuned chip, and the monster v60 has a "nothing" tune chip (they kept cutting more and more audio corners as they went on). In my opinion, the earlier phones are going to sound better for audio, because they...

    Schiit Syn Surround Processor Reviews/Impressions

OK, I guess my question now is... Where are you going with the Syn outputs? Yeah I think I'm going around in circles too--the issue you're getting at is it's only going to send through any output jacks with the input source on the front panel. I just realized all I would need to do is route...

    Schiit Syn Surround Processor Reviews/Impressions

However, I would think that the record outputs would just be a stereo duplicate of whatever input you have selected. Yep...You are absolutely correct it seems--as shown by my first attachment. If it's going to work I would have to wire it up the second way (mod pic). I believe those are pre...

    Schiit Syn Surround Processor Reviews/Impressions

Can't believe I completely forgot about this new product from Schiit. Maybe some owners can help me answer a few questions about it... So I'm personally still 100% in the analog world with my rig because let's face facts...it just sounds better cause last time I checked that's how you hear...

    HiFi Rose RS250 Network Streamer

Hello I'm looking for a streamer but I also have an Oppo 205 (higher-end 9038Pro DAC, asynch USB input etc) which performs about 90% of streamer tasks...so I want to be careful not to duplicate features. But it won't play Qobuz in the highest resolution. With something like this...I think I can...

Cambridge Audio CXN (V2) VS.. ????

I have the Cambridge CXNv2 and can only say good things about it I don't understand all the accolades this is getting... because the main component-- the DAC--is like a hundred years old :). I mean seriously, this Wolfson was used in my 2011 Blu-ray player from Cambridge... So that's really...

    WiiM Streamers Mini and Pro

Try BubbleUPnP instead of MConnect I tried that too but and it also had issues I just can't remember exactly what they were.. I'll have to try again. I have to keep in mind I have one of the best DACs available in the 205 so all I need is something to utilize it. Obviously Roon is superior...

    WiiM Streamers Mini and Pro

Coax out from the Pro even into my budget iFi ZEN One dac, is superior to my ears. Shouldn't the sound quality of the Mini and the Pro sound the same using optical/coax...the only difference being the nice ethernet option on the Pro (and of course the ability to use nice RCA for an analog run)...

    WiiM Streamers Mini and Pro

So...I'm looking into these WIIM devices because I'm tired of the compromises with Mplayer into my Oppo 205 (interruptions, far from gapless, etc), which I used to get Qobuz to my home system thanks to their...ahem ..frustrating lack of supported platforms or even more frustrating lack of...

Cayin N8ii: The Incredible DAP with ROHM DAC and fully BAL Nutube

Announcement of N8ii Firmware V1.8EN Did I somehow miss a 1.7 or did they pull a Samsung and go right to 1.8? (Samsung went from the original Flp to a Flip 3 there was no Flip 2)

Cayin N8ii: The Incredible DAP with ROHM DAC and fully BAL Nutube

How many of you guys regularly use the N8ii with full-sized headphones? What do you think of it? I'm just now back from a nasty foot surgery recovery so catching up on this board many pages back. Someone asked this earlier and it appears 99% of the people here use IEMs...but not me...

Cayin N30LE DAP: A Transformative Milestone (30th Anniv. Limited Edition)

Well I had to go through 49 pages as quick as I could before I could post :) A lot of familiar names in here I see that are taking the jump from the N8ii to the N30LE. Unfortunately I can't be doing that yet because I've been recovering (physically and monetarily) from a foot surgery which is...

    Music Apps, Tips and Tricks for the LG V30, V35, V40, V50 & V60

Keep in mind that "five channel" (also called "party mode") simply plays the same signal out of all channels, while the Dolby & DTS modes use some kind of logic algorithm to give you more typical 5.1 surround sound effect. The Oppo 205 is a 2K blu-ray player...and it chose DTS Neo-6 as it's...

    Music Apps, Tips and Tricks for the LG V30, V35, V40, V50 & V60

This is wired from the headphone jack to a VCR input on the receiver. Is this the best connection I can make? I did try the phono input but it sounded like it needed attenuation. Never connect a line level input to the phono connector! "Needing attenuation" was likely more like need earplugs...

    LG V50 ThinQ Smartphone

My only problem with the V60 is it's too damn big! 6.4 inch screen of the v40 and v50 is as far as I'm going to go having to carry it around in my pocket all day. That's another thing no one will agree on: how big is too big a phone?

    LG V50 ThinQ Smartphone

Good to know: now I know where I can sell it before it gets too far removed :) Still a great phone--in my opinion it's LG's best due to the flush camera and at least minimal 5G support. And yeah just before they got just ridiculously giant-sized with the audio lacking V60...

Does this phone still actually work in the UK? They sadly killed it in the US when Sprint went to T-Mobile as none of the needed bands were there...
