You can't go wrong with a Schiit Asgard. That is my setup is the Essence stx and the Schiit Asgard. Only thing on my stx is my OPamps are upgraded to about a $60 set.

Also forgot to mention massdrop has the he-350 for $100 right now.

All the amps were replaced with ones that are for headphone. I would be hard pressed to sell my hd555 because of csgo and bo3. I know ill be getting the he-400i. But leaning real strongly to the bifrost.

I never had a chance to try the K7XX. Something I will have to look into. As for the harsh highs on the DT-990's I am not very treble sensitive so I haven't had any issues with them.

The DT 990's for the price are in my opinion very clean and well rounded. They lack a little in the mid's but are a great music headphone. For gaming I tend to use my Sennheiser HD555's. The 990's are a comfortable fit, great sounding headphone for the price tag.    The HE-400i for the price...

Personally I would look into HE-400i, but I don't know if that would be bassy enough for what your wanting. If your wanting a thump a closed back can is going to be the way to go, but you will be feeling the bass versus hearing it if that makes sense. As for a dac are you wanting a dac/amp combo...

If you were looking at the Modi Uber maybe look into the Bifrost. 

Personally I am running an upgraded asus essence stx sound card with a Schiit Asgard amp. I love the them with my DT 990's, just thinking of getting a dedicated DAC instead of the sound card.

Depending on whether you want open back or closed for the prices cant really go wrong with the dt 990 or if you want to put a little money into them the HE-400i.

I'm slowly getting used to listening to the bass vs feeling it. But it has been enjoyable so far.

I would highly recommend the Schiit Asgard. I love mine.
